FWIW (and I’m not sure if he was injured or not) Cumming didn’t finish top 5 in GWS’ time trial this time last year
Probably injured, given Cumming didn't play his first game until VFL round 5

I'm not sure that ANB & Cumming winning our 2KM time trial is a good thing, or a bad thing!

Good - they are super fit and will be amazing for our team
Bad - our other players are unfit

The optimist in me says it's a good thing and ANB & Cumming have gotten themselves ridiculously fit and want to get the respect of their teammates.

Made easier with no marathon man Neddy out there. Chayce Jones usually does well.

You can only know this with the times.

I couldn't imagine life without dogs.

So loyal.

Waiting for me when I get home.

When I used to travel our oldest one (now passed away) would wait by the front door for me to come home.
I’ve currently got nine four day old puppies been up most of last night with one that isn’t that well - very slow today!

Not sure I’ll get a walk in

I think ANB is a noted freak in the 2km time trials. However, to be around lads like Keays/Sholl/Jones, Cummins is super fit.

Was chatting with my brother on the weekend, and made the observation that I cannot remember the last time we have recruited 4 x best 22 players in the one offseason? Assuming Sid is the second coming of Jesus, that is.

Add Pedlar to that quartet

I was massive on Pedlar last offseason as being one who would elevate his game to another level, and was left bitterly disappointed.

Would need to extract the digit to be thought of as best 22, let alone picked.

Good problem to have.

Thats the exciting thing. Pedlar has shown he is at least good enough to be a small forward if not much more if things go right. Milera I have always liked as a player (potential top 3-5 in the year drafted but slipped with heart condition) - he was our most highly rated youngster a few years ago (with much less competition then obviously) with biggest contract when handed out 500--600k x 5 a few years ago. Then had injuries wipe out 3 years. I still have some hope he returns to full fitness and we get another few years out of him but its a worry and one more major injury could be the end. Jones back half of 2023 was his best at AFL level and then linsfranc injury stuffed his 2024.

So besides the 4 new additions - I agree Draper comes straight in - plus Pedlar/Milera/Jones and we have a helluva lot of depth for 2025 - quality depth.

SANFL premiers perhaps with the AFL team gunning for top 4-6 IMHO with the draw

People pigeonholing Pedlar as a FWD, made the same mistake with Rankine .....Pedlars pressure on the ball & ball carrier is deserved of greater midfield time

The difference is Rankine always put up decent endurance numbers right back to his drafting, Pedlar has always struggled, now you could claim it's because he's rarely done a full preseason without rehabbing an injury but it was always a work on for him

It’s very good when he’s close to the ball carrier due to his aggression, but he doesn’t do it nearly enough due to low endurance levels. Was a statistically below average pressure player in 2023

It’s why he really needs a big pre-season
