I'm a huge Noah Balta
fan and you've found a gem with the ability to play defense, ruck and forward with great proficiency, I posted how much of a god he is on this thread when as a defender when he shut down Hawkins and Dixon turning them into babies.
I do not believe he's 194 cms as he's listed at now (when he got drafted sure). I reckon he's grown to 197 cms as he looks taller than Astbury who's 195 cm and almost as tall as Hawkins who's 198 cms.
As a defender he's big enough to defend the big gorilla forwards and athletic enough to play on the athletic type key forwards could also be capable of playing on a small. Decent ability to read the ball in flight but felt his rebounding ability wasn't utilized to the fullest when he can run and has a penetrating kick on both feet. He'll run off a resting ruck if the ball goes to ground. If he attacks the ball hard like a forward not worrying about his man consistently taking intercept grabs and the club utilizes his rebounding ability to the fullest with taking riskier options with his penetrating disposals then you may potentially have an upgraded version of Alex Rance
and that's saying alot.
As a ruck he's a little bit undersized to be a full time ruck but has a decent leap to compete at the center bounces and is strong enough to compete against first and second rucks at stoppages but once it goes to ground level against those lumbersome rucks he's virtually an extra midfielder where he can use his burst to accelerate from the stoppage like Nic Nat does. When he does ruck full time he'll get beaten by a stronger taller tap ruck in the hitouts at least and that can be detrimental if it leads to oppo clearances hence why he's best suited as a pinch hitter where he can use his burst to compete and become an extra mid.
As a forward is where I think he'll be best at. Instead of having to worry about a man he can play with freedom. He's too tall for those shorter athletic KPDs too quick for those gorilla type KPDs and is strong enough in a one on one to overpower a weaker defender or bring the ball to ground against stronger defenders where he can use his athleticism to beat them at ground level. Can kick the ball far so he has a longer range than most forwards and is pretty accurate at goal.
For me if Jack AND Lynch is fit then you should only go with one ruck probably Nank since he's captain and Noah can be the pinch hitting ruck otherwise you'd be too top heavy as shown in the Carlton game where they're able to rebound it out at will but if Jack retires or gets injured then you can go with a two rucks with Nank and Soldo without being too top heavy.
