Stephens played a huge game on the wing in the QF vs Melbourne last year. Looked like a young Isaac Smith that night.

We also need a 2019 1st round pick on the list as we're missing one from our collection. Another pick 5 will look great on the Footy Classified list analysis page when we're 1-11 at the bye next year.

s**t, what a draft to trade out of, the first round was like fish in a barrel.
Our pick that year ended up being Serong - gotta love that.

People here defending Will Phillips fitness is fine, not that I buy it. But he has the next 6 months to take his fitness to another level. Simple as that.

My main concern with him is what he does with the ball when he has it.
Handballs are nothing special. Kicking lacks penetration. Decision-making questionable.
Will those things change???

He is dead-set at the crossroads of his AFL career.

Anyone here “not concerned” by his lack of development is delusional.
Massive shitpost

Judge Phillips once he is up around that 80% game time.

I’m seeing small snippets of that elite footy craft that made him the best midfielder in his draft class but he is just unable to sustain it for any length of time.

Needs continuity and an uninterrupted pre-season.

Inside craft wise you might be right. But skill and execution wise, he’s just not a class player and as much as I’d love to be proven wrong he just doesn’t have an A Grader in him.

A good example yesterday was when he had time to line up a shot at goal and missed, while a minute later Neil-Bullen kicked a more difficult one of one step

Any chance we see him in the #10 next year?

Depending on how you rate him, it's either blasphemy or a perfect fit. The other benefit is that you free up #29 for Cooper.

I'd leave him as is. He needs less pressure rather than more imo. Any correlation to Boomer via the #29 has long been forgotten.

A sub that can't run and can only play one position? Would rather him build fitness and work on his game in the two's.
It’s a bye in the vfl

He’ll be sub and come on for warlord/cunners to give us a fresh mid in the last

Then right back in for cunners next week

Testimony to George's higher talent level?

I don't think it's a statement fwiw, prob more that it might've been good for Will to be at the coalface to absorb Cunnington's final lesson.

I don't think it's a statement. I think we're 2nd last and Will can't get a game in round 22 and they prefer a younger player off an injury to play instead of him and can't find another spot on the ground for the lad.

Reid will jump ahead of him day 1 and likely the next kid drafted if it's a mid and definitely Sheezel if he shifts there.

I don't think he plays more than 10 games next year.

Such negativity.

I think you're wrong. This time next year we'll know which of us was wrong.

Wardlaw was always coming back when available. He's a freak talent and we need him to be playing. Will is out this week because Cunners is in.

I guess we'll see.

His best attribute was getting from contest to contest. Then he missed a couple of preseason, and was unwell. We just had a soft preseason in favor of learning too. Life is hard when you take away's someone's best strength.

This pretentious love for Philips from people who "understand" football and about "how much better he makes our midfield with all the little, unnoticed things he does" etc has got to stop. He is a top 5 draft pick for **** sake. Has performed no where near what is expected of a draft pick that early and the coaches know it, hence being dropped multiple times. Philips lack of size, strength, speed, skills, athletisem, and versatility is an issue! A massive issue. Yes he has battered with injury but the warning signs are there. I hope he can transform himself in the coming years but there is a lot of work to do.

Pretentious? That's crock. I have no idea who you are comparing him too but here is the comparison with Lachy Ash at the same age. AND yes Will had all of last year off. All the signs point to him being on the right trajectory.
