The game's growing massively if you see it through a T20 lens, where that leaves Tests is another issue.
so hypothetically, let's say India decide they're no longer going to bother with Tests, where does that leave everyone else? presumably Australia and England would continue to play series against each other. would NZ want to play us in Tests? everyone else drops out too and chases the T20 riches?

It'd be over. The Ashes can only happen so often

Well, they're basically doing a T20 World Cup every year now, so if all other test cricket ceased to exist there's no reason the Ashes couldn't be played every year. It would be horrible, but some money grabbing TV dipstick will for sure propose this idea.

Tell me, why do the Poms deserve 5 tests when they tour? Do the usual dead rubbers at the MCG/SCG add anything to what is already a foregone conclusion?
100+ years of tradition and being Australia's biggest rivals.
Not some test minnow like New Zealand.

It'd get old pretty fast. Are they also going to support the 2 first class comps just for that?

I don't see it lasting a very long time. We are still pretty far away from that anyways

Is this guy really suggesting 5 test series for New Zealand?

I know you are excited about a potential drawn home series tomorrow Marshland but NZ just doesn't generate enough interest no matter how much some want them to.
More in the Pak, SL, WI grouping. 2-3 tests as part of a two series summer.

You don't want competitive series then. You just want to flog a horse that is already dead by the end of the 2nd test.
5 tests in Aus and the series would be over at the same time it is for the Poms.
But the poms bring more people through the gates. The barmy army alone brings thousands during an Ashes summer.

Steve Smith thanks for the memories but it's time to seriously contemplate retirement.
Think the ones who should contemplate retirement are the braindead selectors who thought it a good idea to move the batsman of his generation to bat in the unfamiliar role of an opener.

They non selection of a proper opening batsman to partner Khawaja has fcuked this team up big time.
