1. Very glad to be wrong about Swampy. the first time i saw him play he was good, really good and I thought; Boy have we found us one here. He kicked 50-60 metre passes and his kicking was really good. Some one on the other board said he needs to stop being sucked into kicking to experienced players who call in bad position. Probably true, a couple of times sucked in by reputation of the senior player. Naughty. But in general he was very good.

2. Always known Tommy was the real deal. But today he was even more the real deal and his big deal is on the table and he is about to sign.

3. The intensity at the ball was super. It was the sort of pressure you need to play finals. If you look the young players led the way with Lloydy, Georgie, Mitch, Heens, Mills & co all landing some wonderful crunching tackles as well as putting incredible pressure on their opponents. These guys all have a few things in common. They are hungry for success, have huge amounts of talent and are relentless. This is a list that will keep us around the top of the table for at least 5 years. I watched the reserves and to tell the truth they were awesome. Even though Dawson didn't get huge numbers or a big rating boy did he impact the packs in his first game back. Naismith threw Uni players around like they were ragdolls and had all the expreienced Uni players head hunting him most of the second half. The backline is super and Davis going back made it even better. Watch for Abe I think he might just get a game soon.

Snuck a quick look at norf board saw some comedy

Ok, so this is how I see it.

1. The umpires meant Swans had 3 extra players
2. We had more inside 50s but didn't capitalise
3. Played at their home, small ground not suited to our style of footy
4. Boomer and Petrie played near career worst games
5. Made very critical errors halting our much earned momentum
6. Started very slowly raising their confidence and chasing tail rest of the game
7. Despite the ^^ still only lost by 4 goals.

I'm confident we'll beat the Tigers next week and not overly stressed at all about this loss, compared to others. Some worrying signs sure, especially with regard to the midfield spread and delivery, but the match committee can deal with those in terms of structure and player replacement.

Even despite playing so poorly and having multiple quality players down, play them at Etihad or a neutral venue like MCG with decent umpiring and we probably still win that game, let alone if we actually play good footy....

Lets meet them in the finals in Melb and accordingly due to the ^^ i'm still very confident have their measure, as per last year :thumbsu:

It shits me to tears because my own view is that Lindsay Thomas is the victim of racism in the same way Goodes was, just expressed differently. Between 2007 and now, Joel Selwood has been paid 299 too high frees and LT has got 73. But LT cops it mercilessly. And just as dipshits like BT and Dermie "condemned" the "violence" of Goodes dance - one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen btw - so they pot LT for being a "stager".

It is institutionalised unconscious racism, racism so deep people don't even know they are being racist.

If people knew where Lindsay Thomas had come from, and what it has taken for him to be even out on a footy field, they would look very differently at the society they live in.
I think the Thomas v Selwood is complicated in comparison. To be frank, the problem with Lindsay is he's also something of a cheap shot merchant, which combined with diving does not go well in the court of public opinion. Selwood is a well known ducker, but I doubt anyone would ever seriously accuse him of being a sniper.

I do think that race is an issue in sport - as in everyday life - I'm just unsure what part it plays in this instance.

And I hope Longmire or Kirk are giving Hewett a stern talking to about that ducking shit. It sullies the reputations of otherwise good footballers (see: Thomas).

You don't want to end your career having been a good player but thought of as a shitcampaigner

Edit: 'stern talking to', not 'street'. Though that may be called for

Why? Surely you aren't comparing Hewitt to Thomas? Thomas' actions are appalling, lacking integrity and on another level.

Hewitt is the only person at our club that does it and is good at it. Almost every other club has at least one player that does it. Certain clubs, ie Whorethorn, Geelong, Norf, etc have many players who do it.

The responsibility is on the umpires to call play on or holding the ball against the instigator of the high contact. This may require an adjustment of the rules but until that is done players dropping the knees are doing nothing wrong.

Hewett goes in to get the hard ball
Thomas plays for frees as a first instinct and carries on like a pork chop

Hewett does need to be a bit more careful, but thomas in a class of his own

That's the biggest load of crap I've ever read. Selwood lifts his arms to induce high contact. Thomas does....well it's quite clear what that POS does and he deserves criticism for having minimal integrity as a player. If I need to explain the difference between the two then there is no use in me wasting my breath.

It's people like you who automatically label any criticism of a minority as racism that are destroying our society.

Good point

Besides North played for frees all night. lindsay is not alone, nothing to do with race, most of that team are doing the same shit all game

To be honest, the difference is marginal. In the end, the fault is with neither player nor Hewett.

Norf playing for frees was clear as day last night, really shows they lack confidence. Dare say some of their players may be starting to feel the pressure to live up the the expectaions placed on them after a 9-0 start

Lol I honestly can't remember the last time they beat us in Melbourne. I think the infamous draw was the last time they nearly beat us there and when was that 08? 09?

Also pretty certain we haven't lost a game at Etihad since 2012.

The stupidest waste of energy is a Norf player playing for frees against Sydney. No need to play for them when they come freely.

Norf tactic - kick into F50 and let the umpires do the rest. Works almost every time.

3 things we learned? First North... 1. Uncharacteristically, Nth coach Brad Scott was very terse last nite at the post-match presser usually he's philosophical probably stunned at Sydney's constant pressure and complete re-boot..he was fuming.. 2. Ben Brown cannot kick clutch goals ie: During 4th quarter after the Nahas goal, If Brown kicked that gettable front-on shot.. the game is alive ... 3. It's been said heaps but Lindsay Thomas doing the "dive" and buckling the knees for a free..it's simple.."Play The Game"..our game doesn't need soccer-like academy award performances. Sydney 1. The "Re-Boot" of this team..they have their mojo back big league.. 2. The Youth stocks.. incredible depth..as coach Longmire said post-game they lost 1000 games of combined experience after last season..I'm convinced some of John Rantall's sweat has entered Isaac Heeney's system via his famous no.5 jersey!!! 3. The form of Lance Franklin..he's in a really nice place atm..Last nite he was heavily covered (refer to pic below) by Tarrant & Thompson (who's no slouch) just love his footy thusfar in season 2016. Great to see Adam Goodes last night at the footy to. Enjoy some pics we snapped at last night's game.

How are Thomas' actions on a different level to Hewett?
