3 way trade - Dogs/Pies/Freo

Would not want to see Gilbee traded ahead of guys like Alvey or Jordy but if we were definitely going to lose him (as reported in the H/Sun this morning what would you all say to the following trade:

Lindsay Gilbee to Collingwood
Leon Davis or Heath Scotland and WB's 3rd round pick to Freo
Trent Croad to the Doggies

Therefore:

Pies gain Gilbee and lose Leon Davis

Fremantle gain Leon Davis, WB 3rd round pick (not sure what that would be) and lose Trent Croad

Bulldogs gain Trent Croad and lose Gilbee (to pies) and 3rd round pick to Freo.

Rationale behind this trade...

- We need a bit of height and stability in defence and Croad would be able to provide this while Hargrave and Harris et al continue to develop.

- The pies end up with a midfield runner in Gilbee who there are in need of and the Dogs have in excess with McMahon, Eagleton, Alvey, Birss etc.

- Freo gain Leon Davis (who may come in handy if/when Jeff Farmer decides to come home) or Scotland who would most likely get a game with any other club in the league. Davis is also from WA so would be going home.

Not sure if this would be fair to all parties involved but I think it would work.

Sorry, my mistake... should have been about Davis going back home to WA seeing as that is where he is originally from and Farmer heading back to the Dees which has been rumored over the past few weeks as Davis can take over the small forward role of Farmer's at the Dockers.

Typed everything back-to-front and round the wrong way cos the phone wont stop ringing and distracted me!

As a Doggies supporter Ching, would you be happy with this trade or not?

Anyone can play pretty and rebound off the 50m you've got Rhys Shaw and his family tradition is probably the only thing going to save him. You want a champion midfielder or key position player. Not some skinny (yet talented) fellow who has all the skill but is missing a little bit of courage from what we've seen.
Put him on the market and see what you get in return, don't be too harsh on Scotland wither because he didn't duck his head or flinch going back into a contest in the last two months.

Y'know, I actually wouldn't mind this trade too much. We're losing Gilbee, which isn't my ideal scenario, but we're gaining a young KPP for him. Brings some sort of marketing value to the club, and with Croad and Gia in the same team, watch the tickets to the Manpower night sell out!!!

Dunno about giving up the 3rd rounder though, could be a straight player 4 player 4 player trade.

Ist trade - agree - Freo wouldn't go for it.

Your trade - from a Bulldogs perspective, I wouldn't go for it. Our 2nd round pick is 19. That's more than enough for Croad. But even then, I wouldn't do it unless Freo's paying most of his salary. It's just way too high. Why would anyone want this problem? It's Freo's. Let them sort it out.
