Certainly stunk it up today, dropping marks like old concrete hands Dan Currie style. On the flip side just remembering Nick Larkey's first two games gives me reason to wait a few games.

On the patience thing, if we count today and last week isnt this his 4th game at top level? If he gets a few weeks in a row and is still looks like today I might join the panicked brigade but not yet.

Liam Jones was drafted in 2008 and he’s had more shit games than good. Today the media the media raved about him Comben has played 2 games chill out

Looks to be putting a fair bit of pressure on himself. Hopefully they simplify as much as possible and given him clear, simple direction and expectations. Just let him find his feet.

I think Clarko and anyone with half a brain cell understands the fact we played a genuine top 4 club today with an extremely seasoned backline/talented talls across every line. Chom will be fine.
Agree, overall I think it was a massive improvement on last season. Sure it got away from them in the 2nd and 3rd, but at no stage did they drop their chins and genuinely battled it out. Also kicked a decent score against a genuine flag contender. Bergman and Stevo looked good when they came on. Goater, Curtis, and Sheezel are very exciting just need to get more games under their belts. X has clearly built his tank to AFL standard. Not worried about Chom at all, hope he stays healthy and about getting AFL games into him. Excited to see Wardlaw when he's ready and who knows with Thomas. This is still a development year but we'll upset a few.

Larkey and Welsh both had 2 of the worst 1st 2 AFL senior games you'd ever see. Comben's debut alone has them covered.

Didn't click for him against the dogs but he's got a long path of calibration ahead to work out how to thrive at AFL level.

He got 4 quarters of football on the weekend and that was a win for a kid who has struggled to put together 30 games total at any level over the last 4 years.

Given that the bloke has been unavailable for selection as often as Alexei Navalny I’d suggest people might want to just hold back on calling him a bust.
Lots of promise, just needs a decent run at it, and then we might have a clearer picture of exactly where he stands.

As you are one that has never doubted his talent but has had concerns over his longevity. How are you feeling about his ability to stay on the park?

And for mine, it was a massive win to see him play consecutive games. I was a little confused by the stay-at-home approach to his game and do wonder whether that was by design.

He was better in the last when he got on the move. His greatest attributes are size ( 199cm) mobility, mongrel and he is a strong mark. Maj was a strong mark just took him years to believe in himself.

I've no concerns regarding Charlie and he will play rd1. I hope we tell him he's in for the first ten rounds, and take the pressure off him.

Just needs continuity at AFL level.

Pretty telling how much better he was in the 4th Q when he clearly stopped overthinking. Few good marks, shot on goal. Just needs AFL level games.

Yeap very hard on himself and getting caught up in emotion. Don't mind that he gave a free kick away but can't be doing that forever. Needs to keep his head. I wonder if one of the coaches told him to settle down because it worked.

A handful of blokes out there just need 30-40 games injected into them and Charles is one of them. Phillips, Powell, Wardlaw, Curtis, Bergman the others who will benefit enormously from that.

Correct, looked nervous early and settled late.

A good last quarter and played 4 full quarters with no injury so its a good result.

Needs 10 straight.

I’d tell him he’s locked in for the next two years

Settle down, I'm sure his late mother was a fine person who would be proud of how he's battled adversity. Its nothing personal.
The list management panel have clearly decided that we don't need any KPF depth this season, given that we could only find 2 spots for KPFs in a list of 44 or so players.
There's really no one, except at a stretch CCJ, keeping him accountable. And that's a problem.
I take on board the initial patronising hoopla, but I still say he deserves a chance, and you're right, we don't have too many other options, but I've always been about being creative. Curtis would be a great FF, with a few tall forwards around him he'd be a perfect foil with his ability overhead. Cunnington too.

I read a lot on ere about our lack of KP's.

It's like we keep ignoring a Wayne Carey in the drafts.

We have Larkey, CCJ, Comben and Edwards, now regardless of our own personal views on each and every one of them, that should do.

Internally we rate Charlie very highly.

Logan McDonald has kicked 17 goals in his last 21 games. Charlie will be better that, this year.

Cadman is listed as 195cm 92kg's that's a man's body in a teen. He will find life a lot tougher in the big leagues than he did at the junior level.

I'm happy with how we're structuring up. I'm not sold on either Cadman or McDonald. We didn't ignore a King type.
