Daniel Harris is definatly in benno's '5 guy' excitement group along with Drew Petrie, Corey Jones, Daniel Wells and Daniel Motlop who geez excite the bejesus out of me into the new 'era' of our club.. Harris IMO should be a key role in our engine room, goes so bloody hard and has a great clearnace, along with Simmo as all timers in the middle.

Really hoping Harro has a big one tomorrow. He was reasonably productive in the time he was on the ground in round one, but a couple of efforts at different stages against the Hawks were ordinary to say the least. Put it this way, if it had have been Shane Clayton, the BigFooty board would have been in overdrive come Sunday night.

The nuggety number 4 has a lot of support on here (and, it seems, in the outer at the G on match days) so let's hope that support is really vindicated!

Get up Harro!!

Yep- have a good one Harro..

If he can start on the ground and play all of the first quarter- and make some sort of impression then hopefully Laidley can leave him on most of the game, and he can have a good game:D

Go Harro
Go Roos

i thought he could have been in trouble for two efforts out around the wing last week. one ball that was kicked over his head where he took his eyes off the ball and stopped running for it. my mate turned to me and said "gee, he squibbed that, didn't he" - which i thought was pretty accurate. another effort where he didn't chase to cover a bloke as the ball was going into the hawks forward line in the second half.

i love the way harro plays and there were a couple of moments last week that i would love to consider "un-harro". you are right though, if it had been shane or even michael stevens, i am sure my displeasure would have been far greater!

Do you think so?

I cannot recall the one the Hawthorn forard line.

But the one on the wing seemed to be more of a case of being concerned of the ball bouncing over his head if he didn't reach it in time.

A poor effort more in terms of judgment, rather than courage.

Why isnt Daniel Harris Involved in the so called rotation that laidley has. any time he got the ball today he delivered it to a forward out infont of them so they had no challenge from a defender and the way he weaved between three carlton players and kicked it to Harvey in space on the Forward flank was outstanding

In what was our worst performance for over a decade, one man stood up in the last, the main man, D. Harris!

Only 1 mistake, should have run with the ball in the last, but everyone made that mistake today.

Showed how good he is and what impact he can have, with the Roos looking shaky when he went out of the centre in the last.

And his kicking, among the best today.

Kingy though, in a bit of trouble I think.

He is in the rotation, and did very well today.

However to get more game time he would have to replace either Simmo or Stevo, as that is the role that he is best suited to.

As it stands he will have to bide his time as the other two are better footballers.

Dont forget, he was also the guy who dished it out to Wellsy at the end of the game. He managed to get 15 possessions during his time on the ground and 2 tackles, pretty serviceable effort. His time will come.

I would have Harro ahead of Stevo any day.

I'm glad you are not the one making decisions at the club then.

As Wrath says, his time will come, it was only days ago that people (not me) were talking of Harris as one of the more likely candidates for being dropped to the reserves.

Ur thoughts Moomba, not mine.

Stevo is still of great value, and he has looked better than he has for 2 years, but Harro uses the ball much better and should be in the rotation. The fact that he isn't is very annoying and kinda odd.

And he is NOT in the rotation. Coming on with 5 to go in the quarter, mostly forward is not part of the rotation. To be considered part of it he should be in there for at least 10 - 15 min a quarter.

I think you misunderstand the concept of a rotation.

Moomba

Not the midfield rotation. Last week he played most of the game forward, meaning he was just a replacement player.

Same this week, apart from the last, he spent most time in the forward line being a replacement player,. not a part of the rotation.

Don't take it literally Moomba, u know what we mean ;)

Harro was brilliant in the last qtr.. but we have performed alot worse in the last decade then we did today.. may I take you back to the game last year against Collinwood where we got whipped by 76 points? And I am sure there have been worse

If that was as bad as we get, then we're certanties for the finals. Wouldn't mind betting we play much worse than today on occassions this year.
I agree it was great to see Danial Harris stand up, but I actually think he is being used pretty well by Laidley at the moment. If he keeps doing the right things when he's on the ground he'll get more time. Hope he keeps it up.

I remember last year when our midfield was getting smashed at times, Harro was kept on the bench.

The first two weeks were a lot easier but today I still think Tunnel was a little slow in changing the structure in there to mix things up.

To be blunt it isn't a problem having him on the bench now and getting away with victories against inferior opposition, but when we need some quality in the middle against better sides, do we expect him to come on and have an impact with limited game time?

I still think (yes Moomba, me personally) he is our most effective clearance player and the more time in there, the more opportunity he has to move up on Sam Mitchell.
