Talk about red time goal. The boys showed so much heart. Game really lost with three slips - Weid's miss on goal which sucked the life out of everyone, Redman's insufficient intent and Martin's hack kick out at the death which led to the goal after the siren. Disappointing but proud of the effort they all showed.

Happy we came back. Caldwell came up big time. I thought Hobbs should have stayed in the middle to start the last.

We need better output from our tall forwards.

Always heartbreaking to get so close.. literally less than a metre in it but I actually feel a lot of pride and I hope the group actually takes some confidence from this. Port pushed early in the last and it looked like we were going to be overrun.. we pushed back and got our noses in front. Clearly our final minute defence still has issues.. that quick kick around the corner has cost us 2 games late this year.. we need to shelve it. Even giving away a free 50m up the line.. would have been a enough.. anything other than giving the oppo a shot.

Wright and Weeds have been ineffectual against good defences and that hurts but our structure looks good.

There is no doubt we are now playing footy that can compete with the very top teams and that is a great sign. Hobbs was again brilliant.. and we have so many young guys coming through. Turnovers still hurt and Parish/Heppell both having shocking foot skills does hurt but our two way running is noticeable and there is belief in this group.

Of course the win would have set up this season and been a real bonus but we played hard tonight and that is how the chips fell. Still think finals are a real chance if we keep playing this way.
