A party’s policies aren’t defined by the race, gender or age of its leader. The message would still be the same, that Trump’s policies are abhorrent, that they present a safer pair of hands to guide the economy, diplomacy etc. They need to not overthink it.

Yes, but in this internet age the message has to be even stronger, with a lot of personal strength behind it. The Trump phenomenon is proof of that. Harris could go on all the chat shows, do presser sound bites, whatever, but she will need to project much more to capture a nation numb from BS(in all its current forms).
If the DNC aren't ruthless and overwhelming in their messaging, it could very well fall short in the key EC states, ala Hillary.
