Say the people obsessed with other people's gender, and other people's identity, and who try to introduce laws around bathrooms, and identity, and clothing, and books about gender, and identity.

The irony would be delicious if they had the capacity to see it.

Those things were not necessary before. People worked out a long time ago that men and women were different, and nearly everyone was one or the other, that men and women should use different toilets for reasons that were obvious and that it is not a good thing to sexualize children in primary school by exposing them to books which sexualize children, sometimes read to them by men presenting themselves as women.

Those hitherto obvious things have had to be codified in law because there is a group who wish to tell lies about obvious facts, through the use of language eg by re-defining the meanings of existing words like "gender", and inventing new words because they believe that words are facts.

But you made the original post (which had zero reference to Trump) , and I connected my response to the topic under discussion.
I asked someone a question, and - given that they answered it - that's the end of the tangent. You, on the other hand, like to take on all comers and enjoy getting the last word.

As much as I enjoy fencing - and I do - take it to PM if you want to continue not talking about the thread topic.

Because elections are not morality or virtue contests.

In a race of establishment shills v flawed populism, People rejected the elitist establishment and gambled on a deeply flawed populist.

Which ever way you cut it, it won’t make sense, but accepting it for what it is and viewing it objectively is the only way for dems and the left to recover. Blaming voters and being hateful or embracing elitism will only push voters away.
We don’t work for the Dems, it’s not our job to craft their message. So when a Wisconsin Muslim complains that they helped Trump win because he told them he’d do more in Gaza than the Dems, only to watch him appoint pro-Israeli hawks, I’m comfortable saying they are dumb as dogshit. He told them exactly what he was going to do all around the country, they stupidly chose to listen to the one lie the habitual liar told them. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way.

The toilets in my house were gender neutral growing up. My kids grow up with gender neutral toilets in our house. What kind of weird upbringing did you have?

Ahahahah
Gender neutral in our house on farmland was boys go out the back on the grass and girls use the dunny.
Any other gender would've been thrown out

What were they like in public areas where there were total strangers using them?
I’ve seen mum’s take boys into the women’s bathrooms and I’ve taken my daughter into the men’s. What happens is they reach a certain age and creeps start sexualising them which, in the context of taking a piss or a dump, is just ****ing weird.

People obsessed with the gender of who’s sitting in the cubicle next to them need to have a close look at themselves. My preference is no one sitting next to me while I’m taking a dump. After that, I couldn’t give a shit.

Maybe try some Metamucil?

Precisely.
Now have a look around this thread (as an immediate example) and have a good long think about it.

I don't see very many people feeling "uncomfortable" talking about those things in a public sense at all. Not in America, not here in Australia. It's at the forefront of political and social discourse.

Who do you think is really afraid to speak up, right now?

Why do you think Trump has received so much support?
If Trump, an obviously rather concerning character, has managed to get himself into the White house not once, but twice, then what in the hell do you think that says about his opposition and the levels of concern among the US public regarding what they've been up to? Why do you think that half the country didn't want to vote at all?
What are Americans saying, really? Maybe something along the lines of "yeah, he's a bit of a twat, but you're worse".

It's very difficult to believe you can say something like "the environment Maga has created" with a straight face - assuming you had one when you posted that, of course. You haven't struck me as the kind to post something for a laugh, though.

This has been building for quite a long time.
The most worrying part is that there are signs it might start happening here in Australia, if the left continue along their narcissistic path. It'll take a lot longer, and it won't be as extreme (one hopes) but...

Well, it might also be due to a saturation of alphabet characters in the media, and representation in politics and social discourse.
I mean hell - if people binge watched "American Horror Story" alone they could be forgiven for thinking the number is closer to 50%.
How many times have you experienced someone screaming in your face that trans people are coming to get you... other than in some of the stuff that gets posted in here - by the left.

If you were to honestly compare the amount of pro-"minority" messaging to the kinds of shit you mentioned above (not to mention actual DEI policies and legislation), I think you'd find that the reality of social manipulation is that it's been happening for a very long time, and the political and social left are far more adept at it... to the point you apparently haven't even noticed.

The number of people, particularly in here, who seem to think Trump and MAGA just came out of nowhere is truly staggering.
So, you haven't seen the rape threats made on the daily against female youtubers and tiktokers who discuss politics?

You havent seen the left wing American tiktokers and youtubers and bloggers, that need to point out that they do not personally oppose the right to bear arms, and own guns themselves, as a counterpoint to the commenters who say they know where they live and are going to come and kill them?

Yet again, the side that mocks, threatens, belittles and intimidates, is upset, at how oppressed they are.

The political movement that has infiltrated school boards to dictate what books children can have access to, are upset, that certain viewpoints are forced down peoples throats.

Do you understand that the viral, Your body, my choice, is being said not because the people saying it feel marginalised. They aren't saying it because they feel unable to express themselves in public. They are saying it because its meant to intimidate, upset and belittle. It is an expression of power. I have it, you dont, I can do what I want.

This is the environment Maga has created.

If you cannot see it, maybe this is because it sits a little comfortably with you?

Your the one who typed - on this very page - that "people worked out a long time ago that men and women were different".

So you yourself were referring to a very different culture to frame your argument.

Being on an Australian forum I was naturally referring to Australian culture, which itself is a subset of Western Culture. I have no interest if other cultures think men and women are one and the same, because they would be wrong if they thought that.

Literally all the points you have raised are a push-back from far right fringe elements against the nonsense of left-wing activists and specfically activist academics and students. Its been brewing for years and its now bubbling to the surface and now its getting nasty.

ffs. Threatening rape and violence is not simply 'push-back'.

Naww, we made them act like sociopathic campaigners. Sure.

This isnt push back, its who they are. They just feel safer coming out of their hole now.

Even Australian culture was different a long time ago. I'm sure someone else with higher sociology qualifications than I might take you to task over and question whether Western culture actually has all of the answers.

From a purely anatomical viewpoint, men and women have always been quite distinct. I've had a number of clients over the years that have been born with "girl bits" and "boy bits", but that is relatively rare. Even after surgery, identity confusion can be difficult for these (usually young) people.

But anatomy is only one component of human psychology. Those clear distinctions have not always been as evident in the cognitive and emotional state of many individuals. As neuroimaging becomes even more advanced, I'm certain there will further revelations into why human brains show "female", "male", "both" or "neither" traits, independently of what their genitalia might indicate.

Not even just a long time ago. What it means to be a man or a woman - ie expectations, opportunities - have changed markedly over the past century.
