European countries have elected conservative parties before, some have them in power now, others will do so again. This isn't a new phenomenon. Similar with Canada. Poland's most recent parliamentary election ended up with a more moderate pro-EU centre/right coalition, shifting from the further right Law and Justice party. France avoided a far-right government, with the centre/left admirably putting differences aside. Spain re-elected a centre-left government.

If you're cheering on the rise of far-right parties, then well, that's your own moral failing.

The fact that you think the UK's issues have begun under Starmer is hilariously ignorant, maybe selective amnesia at its finest. Similar if you think our economic issues began when Labor took office in 2022.

The tenor was usually positive and promoted some trust in institutions and at least the people in them. Again, I know the realities of politics and the varying levels of corruption throughout the system. But at least there was positive messaging for the masses. I don't think there has been another show, one so widely shown, since then. Newsroom, another from Sorkin is about the only one I can think of.
The divisiveness in society I think can be directly linked to the media that comes into each and every home. And those campaigners must somehow be held accountable.

The reality is that we rarely come across such toxic types in normal life, outside of BF and Hollywood scripts. The vast majority, within the local community, being unselfish and caring. Our local representatives (Councillor, MP) also have negligible impact on our lives - single parents in the 70s (Whitlam) and more recently the disabled (Gillard) being two obvious exceptions.

Serves no worthwhile purpose bringing your children up as cynics*, and weighed down by a belief that happiness cannot be achieved through ‘inner qualities’.

* negative attitudes towards work, and self fulfilment, within the home can lead to a sense of grievance becoming permanent - generation after generation. [A psychologically rich life is more associated with liberal traits - Oishi, Choi, Cha, Heintzelman, Buttrick, Westgate]
