Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

A few days to go and the Trump show kicks into overdrive. He's been rocking it since his crushing of Kamala at the election.

If the US is banning TikTok for foreign influence blah blah.

Can we at least have a conversation about banning Twitter and Facebook in Australia?

Albo needs them to stay relevant

1.5 % is a crushing win and also a record of registered people that did not vote,
Bit like winning an AFL game by 3 points.

It was an absolute smashing
The best smashing there ever was.
The greatest political victory since John Howard walloped Paul Keating

Check the electoral map, the sea of red is magnificent. The American people spoke and said they didn't want more of the same of the past 4 years (and rightfully so, we don't need Biden 2.0).

Partly correct sir but also look at the winning margin as I quoted 1.5 % and a very bad voter turn out.

I’ve never been to a story hour, drag or standard.
I was crowned "King of Story Hour" in 1960 or 1961 by our local library when we lived in Chicago proper. I had perfect attendance. I haven't thought about that in decades.

Incoming US President Donald Trump will launch a “large-scale immigration raid” in Chicago within hours of his inauguration, according to US media.
Citing “four people familiar with the planning” of the raid, The Wall Street Journalreports that Mr Trump will kick off his mass deportation campaign on Tuesday morning US time – a day after he officially takes over the top job.

Chicago1 , warn your family
He is punishing Chicago by deporting illegals, and thereby admitting he knows it's bad.

If it was the great solution to America's ills the right have been advocating, the right would be outraged that Chicago was being gifted this opportunity first.

Instead, it's take that suckers.

Not me. I did 4 years of home schooling with a map of the world on my desk (obviously not the extent of "geography").

That aside, been to the US a few times. Mostly bigger cities but some medium sized in the South, and also meet people from elsewhere on tours, at bars etc.

I see a similar mix that you would get here. Some people who've travelled overseas, some even worked/studied in Aus, some who seem naturally curious, know different languages (I don't), but even with these people, they may not know heaps about Australia (aside from those who've been) and that's reasonable, like we're a smaller country with far less cultural, economic or geopolitical impact.

Even those who aren't any of these things, that's not necessarily their doing. It takes money and time to travel, and can also depend on upbringing etc around whether you're curious about the world / want to see it.

I know for me growing up in regional SA, no-one really travelled overseas much that I remember, it just wasn't a doable thing for many and you weren't surrounded by people telling you it's great to do for fun (did attend a mission focused church). In my family, my parents never went/won't go overseas. I was mid 20s when I left the country (to NZ) and only got really hooked later on, some friends and family have travelled lots, some not.
