Donnie, are you okay?
So, Donnie, are you okay?
Are you okay, Donnie?

And fruit and veg quadruples in price, people can’t afford to eat, on the assumption food is actually available? The government needs to spend billions to bail out farmer?

This is a risk worth taking?
Be honest, this isn’t a game with winking emojis, people’s livelihoods and lives are at stake.

YES!

Is it really worth accepting modern slavery/indentured servitude of illegal immigrants, just so everyday Americans can get groceries a little cheaper?

You understand that these people have zero rights, correct?

This is what's happening in modern America.

Also, illegal immigrants keep the minimum wage down, so it's a complete juxtaposition for groups from the same side of politics to protest about deporting illegals, then complain about the minimum wage being so low at the same time.

I'd bet this has already been floated by someone like Stephen Miller. Use those rounded up as forced labor ostensibly to say reimburse for lost taxes while the workers were illegal, or some other figleaf. A very cartel/snake head like scheme.
ATM the deportations appeared to be mostly for photo-ops. If they really gear up the way promised, and it begins to bite the economy or food supply, then Trump caves or the ops go dark, and the deportees never get to wherever they were scheduled to go.
And if that scenario eventuates, I'd also bet the private companies who will profit off it will be Trump allies.

If people want the work they'll do it, if not they won't

once again not rocket science ;)
It’s not rocket science to realise the US is addicted to modern slavery either directly through immigration or embedded slavery via cheap imports.

In other words - the masses are used to low cost product. Removal of immigration and replace with American Labor will dramatically increase the price of goods even with lax industrial relations laws. Counter that with tariffs on imports and you will see even the notion of American labor doing this work becomes a massive squeeze as wage growth will be immensely dwarfed by the price of goods and services unless…..corporates reduce their profit margins…

Did she change any policy.
Did she get Trump to resign.
Did she alter world problems
Did she make 1 % of people applaud.

Yep great achievements made there.
America the disdainful.
Well. She's put her life at risk to appeal to Trump in a position very few people ever can or will have.

She's possibly sacrificed everything for it.

It may be for nothing, but at least she tried.

You are correct re wage deflation.

The issue is that you could support these workers by paying them more, with partial inflationary pressure and better rights for them and better wages for the common person.

Or
You deport them and then there are no workers, and huge inflation.

We are advocating for not deporting them, and also to recognise them and pay properly. That’s not a juxtaposition or opposing view.

Ignoring the flow on impacts, as the US is one of the worlds largest exporters of food.

principled, courageous stands in the face of danger just don't register with some people

They're illegal immigrants, they constitutionally have no rights. You can't give them rights because then there'd be no disincentive for them to try and cross the border.

Remember, they're breaking the law as soon as they cross the border illegally, so they're now a criminal.

Now, a visa program to offer opportunities to people from outside the USA to fill all those emptied jobs, with minimum pay, worker's rights, etc is certainly a discussion worth having.

The current setup just enables them to be taken advantage of, much like the immigrant workers in the middle east.

nah! she appeared on rachel maddow. very together. she achieved her aim which was widespread news coverage that embarrassed the orange orangutan and all the arse lickers sitting with him. and got the nasty response from the faux christian ( in it for the money alone) which further advanced her case. took awesome courage to do it. a christian who gets the key message of jesus which is to love your neighbour as yourself and in as much as you've done for the least of these you have done unto me.

It’s a civil offense. They aren’t criminals.

the poster hasn’t a clue about the matter. as if the sermon was capable or was intended to do any of those things. the poster is as thick as two planks.

Which is what the Biden administration did. Remember those Haitians eating the cats and dogs? Most of them were (are) in the US legally under programmes introduced by the Biden administration. But Trump and his cronies are after them too. Not only have they cancelled those programmes, they want to round up those in the country legally and deport them.

Are they? I'd have to see a source for this as I've apparently missed it

Thanks for that.

Interesting to note that the dispute is over the app, that allowed 'quick' processing of people attempting to enter the country legally.

I'd have to know more about this process to offer an opinion, other than it seems alarming that people can just turn up to a border crossing and be admitted legally to work, when skilled migrants might never get the opportunity to do the same after their green card gets refused.
