Isaac Heeney

Isaac Heeney is a crowd favourite and one of the best young players in the competition. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2018 AFL Mark of the Year award, was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in two of his eligible four years and played his 100th senior game in 2019. Heeney can be used in the midfield, forward line – where he booted four goals in star teammate Lance Franklin’s absence in Round 20 last year – or as a loose man in defence.

Isaac Heeney
DOB: 05 May 1996
DEBUT: 2015
DRAFT: #18, 2014 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Cardiff (NSW)

Overall yer much more versatile as well could he do what Heeney did in 1 quarter on Friday nup.

I mean Heeney averages more touches more contested touches more goals , but somehow crazy to suggest he is more talented 😂

Goodes could turn a game and was more consistent

He is the most talented player we have had since we moved to Sydney imo.

He just has never been consistently great until the first half of this year and he was back tonight for 3 quarters then he said **** this we win this game boys...
I think a bloke by the name of Lance Franklin played for us for 10 years and he was pretty talented.

He was a legend, couldn't mark for shit though 😂

He was a talent though of course

In the middle of our run on in the last quarter, Heeney gathered a loose ball on the far wing, fended off Quaynor like he wasn't even there, broke the paint of the 50m line with nobody else around, and I thought he was going to have a massive dusty moment and belt it through. Instead he did the team thing and centred it.

Should have had a shot at GOTY.

Omg that was amazing. I hope he has a shot next time.

That fend off got my blood pumping more than any other moment this season.

Looks like Isaac is a good chance to walk away with the Bill Mohr medal too (for leading NSWelshman goal kicker). That article has him behind Walker with 29 goals (to Heeney's 25) but the AFL site has Walker at 27 goals, and Heeney now has 28 after his trio on Friday night. So with no-one else remotely close and Walker no guarantee to play, Heeney might already have won the sweep of NSWelshman medals. Even if he, himself, is rested. (I hope he's not.)

Had the pleasure to meet the shy young man before he ever played a senior game. Mickey O said he would be the best player the club ever had. Late 1998 at the inaugural Paul Kelly Cup. Mick knew his stuff.

i watched him in a reserves game against the bulldogs at waverley park in 1998 (a game where we lost the seniors after a muckup between lockett and o'loughlin in the goal square (oh well i'm not holding on at all) and thought this guy looks very good
