22 games as a mid pls

If he didn’t get injured he would’ve got them this year.

It was laughable he was sub round 1 and probably the biggest knock on Yze. If he wasn’t recognised as being best 22 and Dow was… ****en helll!!!

Anyways, averaged 21 disposals a game in rounds 1-4, something Dow only achieved twice in 17 games. I think they realised his importance which is why he got a 2 year deal and Dow was made to wait to the last minute.

Ross will play 20+ next year if there are no injuries and help us rebuild quickly.

Yeah that really sh1t me too. Same as the previous year he never got the respect he deserved, was dropped and made sub but after an injury was back in and bog. His 1st year he looked sensational before he was sent to Auschwitz for a diet. The worst thing is Dow was blessed to get that massive uninterrupted run of 15+ games in the guts whilst serving up slop. If Sonsie had that opportunity he would've been 10 x more effective as would've Ross if he wasn't injured. Yze has time on his side and the player exodus bought him even more but he better start showing strong leadership with a clear game plan or he's just gonna be a stopgap coach. He'd better change his tune in press conferences too cos they're shocking.

A very underrated player is Jack Ross

Kick chasers with little defensive acumen are not that difficult to find.
I usually like your stuff MR. I think thi is wrong. Unless you are talking about someone else and got lost in the Jack Ross thread.

Likewise Dr T.

I do think Ross is an AFL level player and we missed him last year, along with lots of others. He is competent offensively, but I suspect he is a bit below the mark defensively and in contests. He is fully mature now, hopefully fully fit, like to see him do some more telling physical things, otherwise his spot may as well go to a player with more zip.

I think he is an AFL level player who works pretty well inside and outside. He tends to make good decisions and doesn't shirk the contest. Sounds great. But I also think that he is an all round 7/8 level player. He isn't great at anything. But is quite good at many things.

Ross is a great player to fit into your 2nd rotation, and to fill holes.

In 2025 I see him being ideal to make our midfield work better. Ensures we are competitive, protects the kids, but allows them to play as the coaches see fit. Hopefully he gets pushed out over time because we have developed much better players (Sounds cruel, but it'll takes years)

He also has worked hard and if guys like Sonsie follow his path they'll be good AFL players. So glass half full to me. But not 99% full

Yes you have summed him up well. He is certainly good to have around right now. Would love to see some stronger contest work.

He's consistently better than average. He's now at the stage where he'll play every week. I wouldn't be shocked to see him play 150+ games over the course of his career. I expect he'll get squeezed out in 3-4 years, but not by Tyler Sonsie.
Hard to know how good he actually is. I think Dimma saw him as a role player not a front line player. Hopefully Yze will give him some freedom and some game time and we might all be surprised

He’s just your run of the mill type mid, nothing special. Should play every week though

Just hope he gets fit and an opportunity to play around the contest instead of this wing bullshite they’ve been trying with him

He needs to make sure hes the buzzed cut jack Ross... Not the shaggy haired Ross that gets injured and can't get a kick

He's a hard one to position.
Has good disposal efficiency and can occasionally have a great game but is inconsistent.
Isn't quick and doesn't apply much pressure.
I'm not a fan of him on the wing with his lack of speed.
Could play a Graham style defensive mid role if he learns how to defense.

Will be interesting to see what we do with him moving forward. Probably just depth shielding the kids while they develop.

Speed was listed as one of his strengths in his draft profile. Then Dimma spent 3years training it out of his game. Hopefully Yze tales a fresh look at him.

I think he's better than depth. His inconsistency is due most likely to his injury run. When he played wing he was pretty consistent even though he's not a wingman.

His speed is just around the ball ala Selwood, quick and agile over short distances. Late 22 he played some great games across half forward, so unlike Prestia and Hopper he can be useful when rotating out of the midfield.

He is not a defensive player like Graham, but a very constructive user of the ball, so I hope he is in the middle round 1 and given a good run. I would rather see him given a real crack in there over Hopper as I think they are a bit similar but Ross is better (on Hoppers last 2 years).

Ross rarely gives the ball to a player in a worse position to him.

One thing I have liked about him in recent times is his kicking for goal. Not a lot of opportunities but when he bobs up inside 50 he takes his chances.

Over the last few years he’s scored 14 goals and 5 behinds. If only Shai had’ve had that confidence and strike rate.
And he sets them up. From memory he had about 14 score assists in the Brisbane final in 2022.
