Severe hamstring issues this early into his career, a concern?
He had them as a U18 too, so it's not entirely a new thing. Surgery on it may hopefully fix things but it won't ever be like "new". I've seen a lot of "this is Nathan Freeman" territory now and I honestly don't think it's that dire.... at least not yet. The club just needs to approach it super realistically and not play him until he and they are 100% confident he is as fit and firing as he can possibly be. Especially given our track record with soft tissue injuries!

It's a little concerning, but I don't think it's anything too be to concerned about yet. The positive from a club standpoint is that we have players to cover him, so it's not like we're rushing him into surgery, than rushing him through rehab than rushing him back to play so the timeline is really how the club chooses and that's a good thing. Sure, it sucks for him and I'm sure we all feel for him as he was arguably the most exciting pick up of the offseason behind our three new recruits + he showed a lot in his brief couple of games for us but everyone + him needs to really knuckle down and try to fix it now whilst he has basically the whole year & summer to get it right.

"Yeah so Jye is in a very similar spot to Shiely actually, he's going to integrate back into some skills [sessions] over the next week or so. He'll start to he's hit a bit of speed now and he'll start to integrate that in, which is the last little bit of the rehab process for a hamstring. So start to integrate that in and hopefully we'll see him in the next month or so"

His were knee issues (patella) & wouldn’t say he’s reached any great heights at Hawthorn or lived up to his enormous potential.
knew it was something leg related haha

I don't think anyone has gone through this many hammies

Grimes from Richmond. Pretty sure he had chronic issues.

That's a good call - he had years of soft tissue injuries mostly hamstrings as I recall and then he went onto become a very solid and reliable player. One of the better defenders of the last 5 years. At one stage I think he was lucky to keep his place on the list as he was pretty unproven when he had his chronic issues.

No idea what treatment they used to get him right though.

Sounds like he's a week behind Shiel. So Shiel in full skills now, and Caldwell in full skills training from next week.
Head of high performance Sean Murphy said Caldwell was on the cusp of returning to full skills training and will potentially be available for selection in the next couple of matches.

“Jye is in a similar spot (to Dylan Shiel), he’s in that end stage of that hamstring rehab process,” Murphy told Dons Digital's Liberty Financial Performance Update.

“He’s ticking off all the markers and will integrate into full skills next week and we’ll see him (potentially) the next couple of games.”

Dunno lad, but at least as a defender there is less below the knees ground ball stuff. Caldwell needs that kind of work to be his bread and butter which is probs the concern

For those that can remember, how did he actually go in round one? I was at the Gabba watching Sydney and Brisbane, and our game was on in the same Saturday night time slot. I’d originally intended to watch the replay, but knowing we squandered a near forty point lead, I’ve never seen it.

Then round two when he got injured, I was flying home from Brisbane, so I’ve actually not seen a single minute of his debut season (with us).

He was "pretty good", but he does have the benefit of "injury tax" (Whereby if you played well the game/recently before you get injured, it gets a little bit blown out of proportion).

But he did look good. Looked clean. Seemed his niche was very much a "first hands on the ball around the stoppage" type was his go.
