Goblin
hmk so he's officially 'Goblin'
Compliments our midfield so much. Toughness, grunt, & has a nice touch with footy in hand.Lucky this guy fell to our pick so it was a no brainer. Imagine if we had ended up with Josh Sinn like Dodoro initially wanted.
Great game, will be a mainstay of our midfield for the next 10 years.
Pretty sure Dodo said we were taking Hobbs even if Sinn was available at our pick. But yeah, perfect choice for us.Lucky this guy fell to our pick so it was a no brainer. Imagine if we had ended up with Josh Sinn like Dodoro initially wanted.

Did he say that after the draft, though? From my understanding, Port knew we wanted Sinn, so that's why they leapfrogged us by trading up to get him.Pretty sure Dodo said we were taking Hobbs even if Sinn was available at our pick. But yeah, perfect choice for us.
Yes he did. And it wasn’t until about 24 hours before the draft that it started to look like there was a chance Hobbs would slide to us. Prior to that, we were into Sinn.Did he say that after the draft, though? From my understanding, Port knew we wanted Sinn, so that's why they leapfrogged us by trading up to get him.
Well of course he's going to say that. If we ended up with Sinn, that was our plan the whole time. Either outcome would have been perfectly predicted by Dodoro. Pretty sure he said we always wanted Reid at 9 despite trying to trade that pick out.Yes he did. I don’t think he’s anywhere near as dishonest as what you’re portraying. I think it’s entirely credible we rated Hobbs higher than Sinn. Tigers and Hawks were quite keen on Hobbs in the top 10 and clubs made offers for our pick 13 specifically to take Hobbs. Sinn also went one pick ahead of Hobbs so it’s not crazy we rated the guy we took at 13 ahead of the guy taken with 12.Well of course he's going to say that. He's got the spin of a clever used car salesman.
I wouldn't say dishonest per se, but he's definitely a spin doctor, and it's always in his favour. Clearly Port thought we were going to go with Sinn too which is why they leapfrogged us at the deathknock. Clubs generally have good intel on one another so I'm putting 2 and 2 together a bit here.I don’t think he’s anywhere near as dishonest as what you’re portraying. Re Reid. We tried to trade a pick to the pies for their F1 (which ended up as pick 2 in 2021). How does that mean we didn’t rate Reid at 9? I recall a video of our drafting team from before the draft (released post draft) stating that Reid shouldn’t get past pick 6 given his quality.

The magic of televisionWe were picking Hobbs regardless, the whole thing is featured in the AFL draft documentary where they have the cameras in our room during the night and we were hoping with each pick Hobbs would continue to slide.

It is a massive frustration not to see Tsatas - and also that we are not getting games into Cox & Reid...Hobbs stepped into the Parish void and performed really well. Softens the impact should Parish go.
Ruck Setterfield Hobbs
Martin Merrett Wing 2
w/Caldwell, Tsatas and possibly Perkins
Has a good makings of a core midfield.
It's annoying we haven't seen what Tsatas brings to the table.
Going off his junior days Ttasas seems like the Shiel type we currently have but a bit bigger. Explosive speed from stoppage. It's annoying we haven't seen what Tsatas brings to the table.
