While we are on the Aloisi subject...

Johnny to the Roar perhaps??

AMBITIOUS Queensland Roar coach Frank Farina has targeted Australia World Cup hero John Aloisi as the perfect man to lead his side's attack next season.
Aloisi, best remembered for his penalty shootout success against Uruguay that sent Australia to its first World Cup in 32 years, seemed destined to join Adelaide United for the 2007-2008 A-League season after spending the past 15 years in Europe.
But after his brother Ross's bitter split with the Reds, Aloisi was reported last week as saying it was highly unlikely he would play for the Reds.

Former Socceroo Ross Aloisi is among the first five players signed by Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert ahead of his side's A-League campaign later this year.

Aloisi, 34, was the captain of last season's grand finalists Adelaide United and has signed a one-year deal with the newly formed Phoenix franchise.

Herbert also revealed the signatures of former Melbourne Victory midfielder Michael Ferrante, former NZ Knights Richard Johnson and Mark Paston as well as New Zealand international Tim Brown.

Ferrante, Paston and Brown have signed for two years while Johnson has inked a one-year deal.

Seems as though Herbert has decided he wants a tough midfield.

Aloisi, Johnson and Brown won't take backward steps, and Ferrante is a pretty good player.

Paston good signing too.

theyve taken the right steps so far, hopefully a few decent defenders to help Paston and a striker or two (not Fernando please) and theyll be pretty competitive. If John was to go to Queensland would that mean the end of Milicic ??

I know this has been asked before but how the heck can you fit all these guys inside your Salary Cap, its almost unbelievable.

Yeah that does seem fair enough, pretty fair squad taking shape there me thinks. Should be very hard to beat again.

wasn't moore linked to the roar a few months ago? he's a queensland boy, despite his accent, so the roar would probably be in the box seat.

There's no way he'll be staying at Newcastle... Then again the Barcodes do love their error prone and/or injury plagued defenders...

John Aloisi and Craig Moore?

I have no problem with Brebner and Muscat myself, or are you thinking attacking?
Yes attacking. Both of these are very similar.
Fred was easily the best player in the comp because he took on opposition but we didn't have many options out wide. Wide issues are fixed.
If we can get someone thats able to run at defences through the middle then I think we will be a better side than 06/07. Saying that, its not an simple fix.

I agree, i've got no ideas. Personally I would have loved to have seen Sarkies develop into a real good attacking mid, but not now!

Have we got a back up striker yet though?

I know it is far fetched but skoko could play attacking mid!

John Aloisi has had 'sucessful' talks with the Roar. I poo pooed the idea of him going to Adelaide when it was mentioned a while back. I still can't see it happening yet because at 31 he still has a number of years of international football left in him. Its a big risk going back to the A-league as already a number of players have come back and found their international careers have ended or been reduced.

On the other hand Danny has come back and has been incontention for a place in the national side. Sat on the bench I think against someone... Paraguay or the other team we played then whoever it was..

Archie is going fine, Carle is back in the national scene, Milligan has found no such problems.

Archie's went backwards in terms of his international football. He didn't get a run a WC2006.
Wait to see if Carle gets a regular gig, did he even go OS for a club?
Milligan to my knowledge hasn't played club football overseas.

You can add Carney, Dodd and to a lesser extent musky, he got to captain his country which chances are he wouldnt have if he stayed overseas.
