Not really, we knew Geelong couldn't make an offer to Dangerfield that we weren't able to match because they were relying on under the table side deals to make it profitable for danger.
We had every tool we needed to extract maximum value and instead we accepted 'no you can't have our first round pick, we've promised to spend it on another trade'
Yes but we already knew Roo was a ****ing moron. Kelly being a moron is a more recent discovery.

I wonder what the outcome would have been if Balme was here instead of Kelly?
I think this shows why we didn't get Balme.
He would have demanded the authority to come through and set standards and we would have baulked at that.
I'd love if we picked up another 200+ game, one club player like David!!

1. Ok saints if you offer him 600k per year over 5 years we are not gonna match and he's yours.
2. We are gonna match unless it's a band 1 compo and try force the saints to up their offer (a total bluff)
Alot of EV in the 2nd one and 0 EV in the first one. I know which one I rather the club do. Sometimes you bluff and get caught.... it happens...

I think you miss the point. I dont think that Brad was worth pick2. In fact I dont really give a shit about what he was worth. For me this is about Adam Kelly making a statement to everyone including us members saying that we will match if the compo isnt band 1 or pick 2. Because he dint back that up he has lost ALL credibility and from now on what ever he says will be treated by all of us as total bullshit.
This action only confirms that the club's management still hasn't learnt how to change the culture of the club and how to respect its members.
Again Iam not so pissed at the pick we got but I am so pissed at how the club has managed this process. Just unbelievable the saga continues.
What are they meant to do? We not gonna match so you can Lowball him and no chance of pick 2? Or try bluff our way to pick 2
What I would have expected from him is a different delivery on what they would do rather than making a definitive statement and then not back it up. Given what the club has gone through over the past 6 years (I am including Dangerfield trade) the last thing we needed was this type of performance.
Tell me what you would do if Kelly came up to you say during the trade period and started making bold statements. Would you listen to him. I would have if he had backed up his statement about pick 2 but right now any form of intimation from him is worth stuff all.
His action has made the club look stupid. Its embarrassing. If the Port supporters are laughing at us right now its what we deserve.
Anyway thats how I feel.
We were never going to give a 5 year deal so why match a 5 year deal and cause another problem further down the track

AFC tried to create some tention prior to seeing the deal to increase StKilda offer, all clubs do this to try and improve a players worth
I know people rate Brad in here and I respect that however thw market didnt rate Brad as highly which reduces competitve tension, the compensation and your optiins
If Brad was Patrick Cripps and we got pick 23 for him ill be up in arms but then again Patrick Cripps wouldnt be getting a $600k contract offer from an opposition club next year
After parading himself as a $1m man the market has finally spoken and Brad finally found his true price point and his compensation pick reflects that worth determined by the market and the lack of genuine interest
Thank you AFC for not bowing to 5 years when no other club other than St Kilda were prepared to offer Brad a long term deal....
Now lets invest in more talented youth

1) If the club responds in a meaningful way to any of the emails you guys have sent regarding this whole process,
2) How they word their responses, and
3) Who actually responds.
This Brad Crouch jazz has been a fiasco since the get-go.
