If that was the case, they should’ve been honest with this last week when obviously they knew deep down pick 2 was highly unlikely. Temper expectations for supporters, highlight that if we only get Band 2 that they will do everything to strike a deal with another club and if not the risk to match is too high to only move up 6 list spots by trading with the Saints. None of this false bravado about matching if it’s not pick 2 and being happy to keep him.

Fair call, but this seems like a wider problem with people higher up than Kelly. Up until his messaging over the last week (which I think was just towing the line of people actually making the decisions), he’s done some good things this season. Reid is the person I want gone.

Might need some media lessons, but the club would also be controlling what he says as well. I just feel like the club has put him out as the fall guy, Reid should’ve fronted last week and today, he’s an absolutely piss weak disgrace. Kelly was involved in some very good assistant coach hires, so he must be good at some aspects of the job.

Media lessons? Let’s hope they are external, as Shuttleworth has consistently shown a lack of direction and leadership when it comes to PR and communication via the media.

Kelly has not shown an ability to impose his will on the club ......inexperience or out of his depth

Currently he appears to be the media mouthpiece for club decision makers .....rather than being a force in the decision making process

I was gouing to mention last week, Kelly was far more confident in his tone when appointed .....since then his voice has changed with a hint of nervousness when he speaks, subdued, quiet, almost apologetic ......certainly not the confident speaker that he was upon his arrival at the club

Much easier to do cliche talk at an appointment interview than actually being drilled about a job you have just performed questionably.

As a professional you only have one reputation - it’s so hard to establish a good one and it’s very easy to destroy.

He has managed to achieve the latter in record time.
