Saad is the same player he was at gold coast.
The only difference is that now people actually watch him play.
Not true - he has improved at Essendon

Yeah I’d be very surprised but I hope it’s not 7 for Saad and steak knives either. Keep a first rounder to either draft a kid or trade for another established player.
I thought it was Steve
The thought of this guy breaking the lines and kicking long to McKay one-out is just too much.
McKay will easily kick 50 goals next year with Saad/Williams pumping it in quickly, only needs half a decent kick and he's too tall/fast/smart.
You’d like to think with so much time prior to the trade period, we’d be able to get a general gauge on a trade. I’ll be pretty disappointed if we lose 7 for a straight swap. Even if steak knives come back from them it would be a loss in my eyes. I’m not thrilled with splitting it and giving 16 to be honest.
Only reason we released a statement imo. Given what we've already seen, certainly reasonable from Saad's management - there was no going back.I'm somewhat surprised the news came out so early and only because I feel for that to be the case, assurances must have been made to Saad's management that the deal will get through even if the #7 has to be used in some capacity.
I don't know what will ultimately go down but I do know that Saad was a 'must get' for us.
I'd sooner have Saad than Kelly. Kelly's the better player but Saad is more of what we need.

Gerard Whately said he had spoken to three list managers this morning and all had said that Carltons pick 7 is what Saad should be worth. He probably called Dodoro three times.

T60 happy with Saad and Williams. You heard it here first.
I think it was Sam Edmund that did it but the whole discussion was pretty one sided I thought and Whately was really backing the Essendon callers suggesting it was pick 7 at leastGerard Whately said he had spoken to three list managers this morning and all had said that Carltons pick 7 is what Saad should be worth. I want some of what your smoking....I think I'll need it to get through the next month or so with what I have heard and read today....

Its a great point and underpinned by us holding the lowest losing margin across the afl and not too bad a percentage given the win/loss ratio. The best part of an obvious run and gun game plan tweak for next year is we have already trained the defensive stuff into the side. The best teams learn defence first and then get creative.
