I rate saad. I really wanted him when he left gold Coast. But some essendon fans think he is worth close to what we paid for Lachie Neale and no essendon fans I don't have the time to go back and quote but you know there are people wanting a first round and second for an uncontracted hbf'er.

Fwiw id be more then happy to give up our pick 18 for him.

The insane thing is right... Think about it

Carlton are offering 100,00 less per season then Neale got

If Essendon are after sonmething similar its because the contract is kind of similar. Essendon are asking for a tiny bit less to be fair, and that tiny bit less is the tiny bit less of a contract Saad is getting then Neale got

Once again, we are shooting the messenger with Essendon fans. We need to shoot the person sending the message. Carltons list manager

Name me the best midfield game Williams had this year?

His most impressive parts are his half back flank abilities from what I can see. Vision, decision making and foot skills are not gonna help when he is getting pounded in the midfield.

Crouch offers Patrick Cripps protection and a Curnow replacement.

Cap space is always relevant. Collingwood had heaps of it too, spent it on Chris Mayne, Travis Varcoe and Levi Greenwood and look how well that has worked out

Draft currency is far more valuable then $$, hence offering insane wages to a bloke and THEN giving up your draft currency makes no sense. You do 1 or the other, with Saad you are giving up both. It makes no sense and is poor list management

Oh my.

If you love Crouch so much, get around a push to get him to the Eagles.

We

do

not

want

him.

Hurley will be luckY to be in our best side next year, Merrett we will take what we can get next year if he wants to go, there will be plenty of takers.
Cool 👍
By your logic, he can never leave so long as Ess have a need for him or get substantially more than his worth in return.
Same goes for the rest of his teammates.
Enjoy the rebuild, contenders 👋

u wot m8?

I've seen a few people suggest a straight swap for a first, some serious, others trolling. But I haven't seen anyone suggest more than a first in a straight trade for Saad.

Pretty much every Essendon supporter who's not trolling has said (based on the actual picks Carlton has) it would be their first for Saad + a pick.

Wouldnt suit the Eagles because our 2nd best clearance midfielder isnt Ed Curnow

It sure isn't Tim Kelly either.

What did the Eagles give up for that massive disappointment again?

Except that you are conflating contract worth with trade capital value, like many others have done. It seems to pop up on BF a bit but there is no causal link between the two and is a very poor way of assessing what a players trade value is given the multitude of factors at play when trading players. It just doesn't work that way.

The hypocrisy has already been pointed out in the thread that if contract value is directly linked to trade value and people are saying Saad is worth pick 8 when OoC, so must be Caldwell who is being offered a very similar contract and hence Essendon will have to trade what they get for Saad to GWS. Think that is likely?

Let's also not pretend Carlton are paying outlandish money for Saad contractually. It's the same $ and length that his incumbent club were offering and $600k is not huge money in the AFL landscape.

But it does highlight youve got no idea on how to do an appraisal. Two clubs have said his worth is around this but BigFooty anonymous thinks its wrong cause itll fu** up his Supercoach

Two people can bid on a item and both be idiots. Happens alot in the business world and also happens in the AFL world too

Dont we all remember Kurt Tippett

I have.

Agree with your last paragraph.

Its Norm Smth Medalist, Luke Shuey. TK would be 3rd or 4th

So. 900k plus over 5 years, two first rounders and two seconds for a bloke who turns out to be your 4th best midfielder? Not including certain other inducements rumoured to have applied?

Ouch. You really shouldn't be throwing stones.

He is our 3rd best midfielder at the moment. Gave up way too much in a trade but when we wanted a midfielder we got one. We didnt try to convert a HBF into one and spend 2 mill more in the process to do it

Williams is on 800k + performance based incentives that could be worth up to 100k for 6 seasons.

Saad has been offered 650k for 5 seasons, was rumoured to be offered a car as well but nothing confirmed on that.

Carlton reportedly still has enough room for another very good best 22 player on top of these two.

Just to clear it up for the trolls.

If Dodoro wants to avoid an embarrassing & humiliating Suns situation he’ll find a way to see the light and come around.
P8 is definitely on the table, provided Dodoro conjures up something nice to go along with Adam Saad back to the Baggers.
EfC 2021 draft , 2nd rounder ? perhaps a late 1st rounder2020?
This is the issue, what’s it going to be?
