There's no way Dodoro accepts that. Pick 8 has to be involved in the trade and the good thing coming your way is Saad. Possibly a second or third coming back, but that's it. We are already looking at Peter Wright and Dunkley. We have no need for Kennedy or McGovern.

Carlton are more professional than what some Carlton fans on here want them to be. I've said this before, but you may think Carlton has all the bargaining power. They don't, not because Saad is contracted, but because Carlton can't continuously get players to nominate them and then be unable to do a deal. It'd hurt Carlton's reputation among opposition players, opposition clubs and player managers.

Papley, Martin and Saad in the space of two years isn't a good record. How can Oliver put faith in Carlton for a trade next year if Carlton cannot do the deal? His manager may advise against a request to Carlton because Melbourne will want the world and Carlton are unable to do the deal.
We are only obligated to put in a good offer to maintain our reputation. If we just just start paying whatever you want then it will make it harder for Carlton to do future deals that are reasonable.

Just because you want X pick doesn't mean it's realistic or a reasonable price.

Whats papley got to do with it? He wanted to leave Sydney also not just we went recruiting. And both clubs were mature and professional about it...I think a third club held things up.

This trade will have both sets of supporters crying at the end of the trade period.

I’d say the single person under the biggest pressure here is Dodoro. He has failed to build a list to win a final in FOREVER and a club review is going on where his boss just got sacked. The review isn’t over....

If the Blues split that pick with the Cats and offer him 13 he will look a fool not to take it.

Oh that’s easy. Dodoro isn’t involved. He messed up the Papley trade, not the Blues. Martin came to us....Oliver isn’t going to get put off because Essendon rejected 13 for Saad. (I’m going with your ‘has to be 8 logic).

Not a single logical person in the AFL would think an offer of 13 for Saad is a sign ‘the blues can’t get deals done’. Not one. The only conclusion to be drawn from it is that Dodoro is a fool. But that’s long proven now. As foolish as the Club that continues to employ him. He’s been an abject failure as head recruiter. Yet he continues to hold his job....for another 2 weeks I reckon.

Papley was contracted, Saad isn't.

You're worried about reputation management but have Dodo as your list manager who is notorious for being ridiculous?

Shoe is on the other foot here. Saad is out of contract and will go to the PSD, didn't help when Dan Richardson came out questioning his character either.

13 is fine. Do Carlton have 13 though? And why would the Cats look for your pick when they can split it with one of our picks?
PSD, ND, two second rounders, McGovern, Kennedy etc isn't going to get it done.

Dodoro gets the players who nominate Essendon to Essendon no matter how difficult the process is. Being difficult to deal with doesn't impact nominating the desired club, but not getting deals done will.
You can pretend it won't affect Carlton but it will and they aren't stupid enough to follow the demands of half the Carlton supporters on here.

Don’t be surprised if we do something with Pick 8 early and it’s taken out of the equation. As I have said previously next years first is an option as well but again something very good needs to come back.

Why would you WANt them to split with you? Surely you’d rather they split with us? Doesn’t make any sense at all.

Im not pretending. It won’t happen. Players will continue to want to come to a terrific list on the up. No matter how much you wish for it not to be so.

yeah agreed. Hill will get more then we that Will. Cause we are nice we will give you a discount at just take ya first. Nice bloke Dodoro 😁
Haha you’re a generous man Rusman! I think you will get our first, it’s what comes back that will make or break the deal for us Blues fans.

Ideally the bombers future 2nd comes back, the deal gets done and both sets of fans are content with the outcome.

The only way I'd happily given them pick 8 is if they take McGovern :p

Sounds like us and our Fantasia trade. Pick 26 for us is overs, but pick 26 and Riley Bonner is palatable.

:drunk:

Exactly.

Outside of being able to confirm all the Roses chocolate flavours without reference to the box the bloke is useless.

If you split your 7 with the cats we will ask for 15/20 along with Saad. Evening it up with later selections.

Either of us having those selections can only be a good thing.

?????
Disagree Carltons reputation will be impacted..it’s not like they haven’t tried to be reasonable.
Papley deal was stymied by dodoro wanting overs for Joe...GC also greedy..Martin said he’d walk to the psd..GC got zip...dodoro once again up to his old boring tricks...Saads trade value is an early second rounder and or third rounder/player...

If we walk Saad to the draft theres not going to a FA bid for Merrett. Merrett and his manager need to see that we can deal with Dodoro over a required player of theirs. Because they will match and we need to prove we can get what we want quickly and without the draft.

you realise trade week hasn’t begun.....so how has either party “tried to be reasonable”.

this is the most pre-emptive one eyed post ever haha

It annoys me that you have zero appreciation for how good he is, yet you'll be getting him on your team.
Zero idea.

What can I say. I’m a nice guy

Our second rounder will be around pick 19 the way we are looking to line up 😆.

Seriously though I think you’ve brought up the real sticking point.

- Essendon will accept sad and 3/4th for pick 9
- carlton will want a 2nd coming back.

carlton and Essendon can both play hardball as if carlton want him it will cost pick 9 via national draft. No other way to get him free. So both of the above scenarios is better.

Personally I would be happy if I was carlton with either way. The guy is a legit gun. Should have been aa squad last two years particularly last year. Was in the “mentions” both years as hard done by. You boys will be saying he is AA next year mark my words ;)

I’m fully aware of his assets...true trade value for a hbf..nothing to do appreciation.

doherty for a 2nd rounder? Maybe a 3rd as he has two acls? 😆

what about williams? Same deal?

what about laird last year?

what about hodge? Career was worth a second rounder?

enright?

so dumb mate. Two half back flanker were taken in the top 7 picks in last years draft in young And aish.

Hbf makes no sense to a players worth. This isn’t the 1990s where it’s just key forwards and midfielders. They are either a good and impactful player or not. He is good, very good.

Edit: In before this gets quoted into he’s not hodge. Lol.
