But hows his one on one? Most of what Ive seen and heard its his intercept marking and read of play as his strongest attributes. Ben and Weitering have stopping power and Marchbank is suited to the free-wheeling, intercept rebound style.

But I agree, hed be a good pick up if he slid that far. Cant see the Bombers passing on him though. Not unless another skinny flanker has taken their eye

Or another small forward just because.

Considering our delistings we really need to look at our genuine KPD depth.

Denver is around 195cm from memory but needs a few years in the gym. Seems to be able to hold his own one on one.

Didn't want the picks in last year's draft. It was awful.

A player who could have been picked last year:
Will Day (and we know Dodoro LOVES a half back flanker)

On top of a pick last year, could have also had pick 3 this year instead of just pick 7 this year.

Still a win?

Seriously?

Because Dow was a top 5 pick who is still developing and had injury issues all year.

So you essentially think Saad I'd worth 2 1st rounders with steak knives?

Good luck with that. See you at the PSD. If he ends up back at Essendon or North so be it.

Carlton want to keep Dow. Tough two years with injury and this year was hard with no reserves. Expect big improvement next year

So many people have lost faith in a kid same as LoB.

It's a bit of a joke really. Some players take longer to develop.

Very frustrating when people expect the world of kids but are happy to give passes to senior players letting us down.

Fact check:

- carltons pick will be minimum of pick 9. Daniher done and doggies is a lock. Means your pick at best is 9

Worst case 12 (port, sydney and Collingwood academies less likely).

When saying he’s not worth 7 it doesn’t hold weight, you dont have pick 7. Never did. It’s the same as saying he isn’t worth pick 3 which you also don’t have.

Say he is not worth pick 9

- PSD is not a threat to a club with a lower pick than you that has already offered the same money.

If your going to be petty and threaten then please threaten with the national draft pick 9

Please be aware this means you value him at that pick and you look stupid for not accepting pick 9 and a third.

Pick 19 next year and Saad for pick 8 this year?
wut

I think it will just be Saad and whatever we get for Fantasia for Pick 8.
You must have Essendon penned in for the spoon. As much as I would love that I can’t see it happening in 2021. Even if it did, by the time you allow for academy, NGA & father sons that pick 19 is more like 22-25.

Can't count this year. Virtually a write off for development. Blues have put massive work into having a Reserves side and development. Identified last year as major issue and why they got Luke Power.

Watch for improvement in Dow LOB Cottrell Honey Ramsay Philp etc now we have a dedicated reserves and they are playing a good standard of team football week in week out.

As for Saad, may be hard for Bombers to get Pick 8 if we have already used it? ;)

I don't understand how Carlton would even consider Pick 8 in a trade for Saad, regardless of what might be coming back.

Saad is a handy player. He is worth about pick 20.

Blues aren't considering a first rounder for Saad.

2nd rounder +JSOS for Saad and Dons 3rd round pick, this year and future one, back to Carlton looking likely

So in 2017 Saad was traded from GC to the bombers for a future 2nd rounder.

Essendon had pick 11 in that draft and refused to make it part of the Deal for Saad Then using pick 11 for Devon Smith and 23 .
Statistically he is slightly better than he was at Gold Coast by about 10% . But he is now 3 years older .

How has his value increased to the point where he warrants pick 8 when essendon wouldn't even entertain pick 11 and he is pretty much the same player ?

Saad has never been selected in an all Australian squad , best club finish was 3rd in 2019 and is out of contract .

I just can't fathom how Carltons pick 8 is even in the conversation unless its being split for two lower pick with one 15-20 pick going to essendon at the most

I agree about First Rounder. Not happening

I'm told couple of options being considered. We are trying to get someone else that will cost us Pick 8 or it may be split. We are also looking at trading next years first to a club for this years pick around 15 to save them using it on a player they will get via NGA/FS which we could also use?

Your deal for Saad is around the mark of what I have been told. Just not sure Jack is involved.

I do believe a deal hasn't been agreed as yet. Too many balls in the air

If the reports of Devon Smith wanting out are true I would seriously consider Smith AND Saad for Pick 8

The dumbest thing about this post is the fact you are ignoring Carlton's pick will still net you the 8th best player in the draft not tied to an academy etc. That is the same result if the pick is pushed out by 3 or more academy players.

The pick we have to trade is #8. What happens on draft night with academy players we don't really have a shot at anyway, is neither here nor there.

Value changes. Matthew Kennedy came from GWS to Carlton for pick 28 three years ago, and hasn't done much notable since. He's now out of contract with no suitors. Do you think his value is also the same as it was three years ago?

Kennedy is now worth less than pick 28. I don't think anyone would dispute that.

The value of players does change, however, Saad has not done enough to improve his trade value to a top 10 pick.

Fair value is somewhere between 18-25.

I'm not saying he's worth a top 10 pick. 🤷‍♀️ I just think the "he was traded for X 3 years ago" argument is silly.

I think it'll be pick 8 for Saad + something. The something may well be a second round pick, but we don't currently have one in this draft and I'm not sure if we'd throw our future pick into it or wait to get one in another trade (e.g. Fantasia).
