Newman isn't a good kick. Williamson is destined for a wing. We're bringing in Williams and likely one more for the midfield, agree we need another small forward and they're working on that.
Newman is a great kick. Completely one sided but a great kick. Better than Saad.

Nah, Newman is a booming kick and pretty reliable. That and his tackling is a feature of his game.

I doubt Williams will be 100% in the midfield. And not much interested in the Williamson to the wing line of discussion. For now, he's proven reasonably capable at HB. And we've got top quality in Doc too. It's just not a glaring deficiency of the list. IMO it's better to spend out highest currency on our greatest needs.

Agree to disagree, I guess. There's a reason Newman got a one year contract, will be lucky to be on the list in 2023. Williamson is a gun, surprised you can't see that. You need a point of difference off half back, will completely transform our exits after being used to a liability like Simmo back there.

Sure. Agree to disagree. I just hope we don't overpay on Saad and miss out in areas we desperately need players.

Pick 7 could be 12-13 on draft day. If Crouch and Daniher go, bids to JUH, Campbell, Jones and McInnes come early. Geelongs pick 13 blows out to 19 which I wouldn’t except. 12 the starting range for Saads value.

If he goes to Carlton I’d bet my house you don’t get pick 7, Saad is uncontracted and not worth a top 10 pick. Late first should do it

We’ll test the market, if the trade offer isn’t good we’ll up the contract offer no doubt. Everyone will be happy.

You don't push a core player out the door to test the market and then turn around and cough up overs for a contract, lol. That's not good business, it's not good for player relations, and it's not good for building culture.

If we can agree to terms, he'll re-sign and everyone will celebrate. If not, then he will requests a trade and it'll get done. Most likely Pick 7 will end up at Geelong or Brisbane and we'll end up with one of their late first rounders, if not Carlton's future first.

Highly doubt a Carlisle type 3-way trade gets done for a HBF, unless for example the Bulldogs want to play the Sydney role and trade out of the first in exchange for points. Stupidly over-complicated way to do it though imo.

You could easily sell it as an eleventh hour Hail Mary to retain. Honestly we should have more contract space than we know what to do with that overs shouldn’t be an issue.

If it's not an issue then it'll get done sooner rather than later. You don't wait until it's dragged out through trade period and Saad is 80% convinced to walk to the draft before coming to terms.

We’ll already be negotiating, we’ll up our offer again before trade week if we know that we won’t get the value we seek.

Wouldn't spruke untruth's. Newman goes at 70% by foot for his career where Williamson goes at 68%. That would make Newman a better kick.

Do agree that Williamson on the wing is a good play
Okay I'm not saying either are good or bad kicks but kicking efficiency is a load of shit

How do you propose you get Adam through a trade?

You have no attainable players that interest us so time to put up
Or shut up.

Not a Carlton supporter. Carlton will break up their first either with Geelong or Brisbane, shouldn’t be too hard.

Read the thread buddy. Pick 7 will be traded down for two late first rounders. One of them is yours for that headless chook by the name of saad.

West Coast being out means Geelong have pick 13 (before bids) + their own first rounder. If Carlton can do a deal and swap pick 13 and Geelong's first for pick 7 and maybe a second or 3rd, then we can get West Coast's pick and that's done. Carlton will keep Geelong's first.
