Well leaving it until draft night is taking a gamble since Carlton for example probably wouldn't be interested in doing the trade anymore since the only reason we want to do it is to trade for players like Saad...but trade period would have finished by draft night.

Sure maybe they could trade up with another team, but again there's a risk it doesn't happen whereas right now they have a team actively wanting to trade pick 7 to them.
You trade up to get someone if you know that they're gonna be there rather than hope that they'll be there.

Essendon, for example, would probably be open to trading pick 6. Nathan O'Driscoll is unlikely to go top 10 and he's one that most of our board wants

I think Dodoro has every right to ask for a future first imho.

No, I see the 2021 draft as being remarkably strong and deep. As do you Im sure. How do you feel about 2020 pick 7 for Saad + 2021 second round?

so pick 7 in a weak draft is too much and a 10 - 14 pick in a strong draft is too much because its a strong draft?

Im doing life wrong where I can make things up to justify my own existance

I reckon after his testing O'Driscoll goes top ten.

A lot better then Essendon logic, we got him for pick 35 and used up the 3 best years of his career now give us pick 7

I would have thought that a player in the top echelon of players in his specialist position in the competition is now worth every reason for us to ask for a high price.

This argument that seems to continue to get bandied around that he didn't improve since he got to Essendon, rah rah rah is absolute bollocks and shows how little people actually watch.

He is one of our most reliable 1:1 defenders and whilst his offensive rebound was stifled this year, that was largely due to not only a change in game plan (****** f I know what it was let alone is now) but the lack of cohesion from his partners in crime from 2019 in Mason Redman and Connor McKenna (departed).

You are recruiting Saad for his rebound ability, you don't pay a premium for a lockdown defender.

Sadly by way of gameplay or whatever you have actually lessened his value this year by not showcasing his line breaking skills, maybe he has lost it?

he hasn't lost his offesnvie ability, he was stifled by the need for him to lock down more.

Maybe, we won't know until he is allowed to play that role again, he might be finished as a rebound defender
Im telling you he hasn't lost it. Like there is no conjecture or anything. When he was able to put it on display he did a very good job of deliverinng it forward.

You make it out like he has all of a sudden become this dud who cant rebound from D50.

Pick 7 could be 12-13 on draft day. If Crouch and Daniher go, bids to JUH, Campbell, Jones and McInnes come early. Geelongs pick 13 blows out to 19 which I wouldn’t except. 12 the starting range for Saads value.
It’s still the 7th live pick. Those players aren’t leaving their fathers teams or academy positions.

May end up being the 6th live pick if the Swans use pick 3 to match... though granted they are likely to then trade it out for more points.

Dogs will have to trade down for ugle hagan too so that could help too. Otherwise they’ll lose their entire 2020 draft picks and soMe of 2021.
I suspect there is going to be plenty of pick movement this year given the number of players being matched with points.
