If i was Carlton list manager there is no way i would be giving up pick #7 for Saad and i would just say #27+ Kennedy or similar player

PSD is not a suitable option in the Saad case and the ND would be the preferred option
3 x $850k contract on his head and no other team before pick #27 will touch him and can always extend down the line for another 2 years at $400k

Dodoro really doesnt have alot of fire power here and needs to just get it done , Look through the Carlton list and select 3 players the blues may entertain letting go McGovern,Silvagni,Kennedy,LOB etc and pick #27 is about his value .

Blues should be looking to keep pick #7 and take it to the draft or if a player like Wines is still on offer go for that, Saad can get done with the later pick

Kennedy the only one i would take from that group

Kennedy+27 seems fair to me

Feel like saads I don't want to defend stance has been heavily misquoted. Probably intentionally, by Essendon supporters. He said he didn't like that he was sacrificing his game for the team and other players were refusing to do the same. Its not that he doesn't want to defend. He doesn't want to play with some of the picks causing problems at Essendon.

eh who knows.

Just want the trade over and done with

I think they are worried about picking up a small defender who said he doesn't want to defend. I'd be dubious about paying pick 7 for a down hill skiier too. He hasn't spent anymore than 3 years at any one club. Whats that say? Why did Gold Coast let him go so cheaply? Just doesn't seem to be a team player by all reports.
Pick 27 it is then, cheers

Better to demand accountability from them than attempt to defend their incompetence.
Adrian will accept Carlton’s offer for Saad, he can do little else ...
The club won't answer any bodies calls so try the next best suggestion you have and that is defending to the masses.

I think the AFL could stop a lot of the rubbish during trade week, by using the compensation system for trades. Or a version of it.

The players salary, age, AA's, bnf's etc all used to determine a draft pick value.
Even player for player trades can be affiliated with additional draft pick adjustments, using the players particulars.
My solution is that all OOC players are unrestricted free agents.

Keep compo

Trades are for contracted players only.

Carlton wont give us pick 7

If there was ever a chance of that happening, it would now appear even more unlikely.

Was very strange for Essendon to come out and say what they said about Saad.

Doesn't like receiving feedback and doesn't play the role he's asked for the team. What's up with that?

Whatever bargaining power they had, they've certainly done a good job to reduce it.

In saying that, I think Austin will try and broker a fair deal (late first/early second). The biggest risk is if Dodoro doesn't come to the party and continually requests for Sam Walsh to be part of the trade. This will see Saad being walked through either then National or Preseason Draft.

The issue for Essendon is that Dodoro and Sheedy are mates. All logic goes out the window with Sheedy re anything Carlton.

Sheedy will be encouraging Dodo to “screw Carlton”. Dodo will take delight in his support and demand pick 7, which is not realistic. He will back himself in to a corner and the deal won’t get done until late, if at all.

This is not serving Essendon's best interests. It is just feeding both their egos.

If Essendon are smart, they'll quickly broker a deal for our early second and turn their attention straight to the source of the problem.

Whatever Essendon get for Saad will be trivial if they can't fix their internal problems.

Picks mean nothing if you can't retain your talent. Whatever cultural problems they have, they need to focus all their attention to address them, otherwise they'll never move forward as a football club.

The media and most Essendon supporters say Saad is worth pick 7. Why 7? Simply because we have pick 7.
If Carlton had pick 5 in the draft they would say he is worth 5. Likewise if we had pick 9.
They’re all putting the cart before the horse. First question that should be asked is what is Saad worth? I think he is worth a pick in the rage of 12 to 16. It is then up to Carlton to manufacture a pick in that range.

Hammer / Nail / Head.

It is just lazy journalism by the media.

Like to know what the Bombers will ask for when we trade #7 away very early in trade week.

Why are the media speculating on what he is worth in the first place?

Isn't a journalist there to report on what is going on and not spewing out opinions as facts?

Cause it is what they do and where have you been for the last 20 yrs?

You are also talking about Tim Watson on 1116 SEN every morning contributing to the verbal rubbish as he tries to look after his own team. Gary Lyon pulled him into line last week saying #7 is to high but Timmy is still going with the pick #7 line due to the fact that is what we have currently.

Lets see what he does verbally as soon as we trade it etc.
