Traded Adam Treloar [traded w/ #28 to Collingwood for #7, #65, 2016 first rounder]

I feel there is some tension between Carlton and Giants fans I was not aware of

Some of them have proved annoying on the GWS board with posts about just about every Victorian player leaving and demanding to come to Carlton.

The only way Treloar ends up at Carlton is if he gets offered similar to what Ablett/Scully and #NineYears got. However saying that, he wouldn't want to go through another 3 years of constant defeats at the blues.

The statement regarding him being a Carlton supporter when he was young is as useful as nipples on a man. That will have nothing to do with him choosing Carlton (which he won't).
I'd probably agree here... we'd be a distant third if there was a race - would say he'll come out this week or next to advise who he wants to go to. My original point was that if he wasn't bothered and just wanted a pay day and to get GWS good compo, Blues could match $ and offer more in terms of picks/compo.

None of it matters though... only people who likely know what'll happen are AT and his manager.

Usually a teams history is the best way to base an argument round. It's certainly better than the defeatist Richmond "we've been rubbish for thirty years therefore it is our turn to win a premiership" mentality. As I said stop getting so defensive, you have to earn your success and the fact is Richmond just haven't.

Lol pretty sure Treloar would be looking at history over the last few years (finals) and what the current lists are doing than worrying about Richmond in an era when Kane Johnson was skipper and Anthony Rocca was running around for the Pies.

Put simply if he wants success Richmond are currently a long way ahead of the Pies. Collngwood finished 12th, which is about where their list is and would be selling alot of hope of developing talent. Richmond has the talent there but is still a very young side and looks at a period of sustained success, whether that equals a flag or not we cannot say. The Pies look like building up they are just a few years back and will need some KPF's to come through as well as Nathan Freeman/Scharanberg to be somewhere near as good as Pies fans make team out to be. However money, sponsorship, working with people he already knows will all come into it.

Personally I think it is 60% Pies 40% Tigers on gut feel, with the Blues dreaming of landing him but being no chance.

So as part of the PowerPoint presentation Richmond prepare for Treloar to sell their success, will they be including the demoralizing 2013 EF loss to 9th placed Carlton or the 10 goal EF humiliation to Port Adelaide last season?

As I've been very consistent on, making the 8 is one thing but you actually have to demonstrate that you can play deep into September. Richmond so far have failed, and like many, I question whether their club has the ability to take the steps required to remedy that situation.

Anyway, at risk of this post being purely anti-Robbo - IF Treloar is undecided/hasn't nominated a club soon, the Blues will be in a better position to lure him than many think. Yes, we're at the bottom of the ocean in terms of progress towards our next flag. But there are several reasons that shoot down all of the anti-Carlton dribble of the past 20 pages of this forum:

1. He's only 22. Assuming the Blues do the rebuild properly, we could and should be in a good position to challenge for finals/top four by around 2020 when he'll be 26 and in his prime. Yes, he'll have to be more patient but the recent off-field recruits (Bolton for one) and incoming youth influx (Weitering etc) - he could be rewarded before long.

2. He has a connection to the club that goes back to his childhood. Sure he may no longer care about tthehe Blues, but you can bet that he sees fellow childhood Bluebaggers Buckley and Docherty playing their heart out for the club and smiles a little. SOS would definitely be in his ear, and may have been about such a move from the beginning (when SOS recruited him as a 17 year old to GWS).

Careers in the AFL are short. I appreciate that the Blues may indeed be contending in 5 years but in that time he could get severely injured or Carlton make the wrong call with Bolton or draftees don't work out. Too many variables and given that AT wants to leave for $$ reasons he may as well go to a club which can pay him well AND are closer to contending (eg Richmond/Collingwood)

The childhood connection doesn't really matter these days unless you are a Father son pick. If the emotive aspects were important to him, he's more likely to stay with GWS, with mates he's grown up with. You are right about the SOS factor, but Nathan Buckley has a good relationship with AT from his under age days and that's also a factor

All i know, is that the GWS are spot on. He has not made a decision and will this week. The tigers are as good a chance as the Pies as of today. I doubt the blues will get him, as both the pies and tigers have been into this since last year but I guess we will see.

Definitely agree on this. Until then, any speculation on these boards is as worthy as anything Robbo writes about. Although the pessimist in me thinks that we'll all be blind-sided by the Hawks (don't know why). They've been kings of the trade period.

I can see you have your chest puffed out at the moment, but please tell me that you don't somehow think you are a vastly superior side to us because you belted us a few weeks ago. You have enjoyed a charmed run with injuries and have still only qualified 5th.

The fact you averaged about 50 extra fans per game this year doesn't make you a bigger club either.

Try winning a premiership or even get to a prelim before you earn a strut.
Without having the energy to look into your claim that you have a younger 22 than us, I would find that highly unlikely too BTW.

No need to go so defensive mate, but please brother stop making up storys.

Our injuries, we had 8 of our best 10 players missing for an average 8 weeks at the start of the year, we have had first choice 22 players not playing all year, so to suggest we have had no injuries is laughable. I also would take finishing 5th with a starting 22 that is only 4-6 months older, thats with newman playing as we do have a bright future. I know you dont want to face the reality but you have missed the last two finals campaigns, we have not. You use age as an excuse but our finals side is not that older then yours, in fact, and I am using facts, the age of our 22 with c Ellis and Manadue is actually younger. Just compare the age of the 22 that beat the pies when we first played this year.

Now you mention Premerships, you have not won a flag in a long, oh so very long time now. The reality in the last 10 years, you have not been any closer to a flag then us. You mention win a prelim, well if you want to talk flags I can point out we made a prelim in 2001 :p.

Now it looks like I hit a nerve, when I just mentioned the Tigers are as a attractive or even more so for Adam to choose Tiger land as a home. So no need to pot me, its my opinion as you have yours. No need to be childish and say richmond sux 111. Lets keep on topic.

For the record I believe the pies are 50% to get him. We are at 45% and the Blues 5%

I think finals prospects doesn't come into it too much with Treloar. He is happy at GWS, but there are two much bigger offers in front of him. Both Collingwood and Richmond have a lot going for them, and both clubs are reasonably attractive destinations. I think the Pies have their nose in front, but surely Treloar is looking at all the factors to make his decision

Most well reasoned and objective response by a GWS, Pies or Tigers supporter yet. Agree - speculation here counts for nothing. Bring on the trade/draft period.

How would you describe richmond fans?
i kind of want richmond to win the premiership just as a bit of a social experiment to see how their supporters behave on this board. As far as I can see they already carry on more than hawthorn posters. It would be fascinating to see.

Collingwood won a premiership in 2010, 5 years ago.

You sort of lost any credibility here. Were you alive in 2010 or just conveniently forgotten it? We also made the GF in 2011 by the way.

If my maths is correct that is in the last 10 years.

Seriously, Tigers fans coming out of the woodwork spouting some crap!!

Touche' Tiger71 but I've got a good mate who's Tiggers fan and he'd probably describe himself that way before anything else. Can't argue with it as fact. I can say a lot of good things about my mate and other Tigers fans - but not some in these forums.

Anyway... I wonder if AT realises that he's created another Bay 13 out of his possible move.

Why would the blues want AT? They prefer giving over valued contracts to VFL players like Liam Jones and Jason Tutt.

Btw we have a player by the name of Tony Armstrong who is a VFL stud AFL spud. if you guys want to offer him a three year contract I'm sure he would jump at the opportunity!
