If I was a betting man I would lay money on it. Watch Purple starting spouting off.
We wont finish last this year so slightly different situation. The AFL media (especially Purple) were terrified we were going to receive a band 1 compensation for Brad as it meant we would have pick 1 and 2.

Rankine has just turned 21 ... played 25 games. 25 games with Gold Coast. Hilarious that anyone would even think of writing him off at this stage of his development.
He's done 2/5 of f*** all.

All the Rankine apologists need to start looking at what's he's done. 3 years in, and it's nothing.

To be fair..how many of the GC boys have kicked on. There is a fair argument to say the development of players there is not what it should be

His first year of playing was 2020 season, not a normal start to his career. This is his second.

He plays small forward for Gold Coast.

What exactly would you like to see from him? Who are you comparing him to?
To put things in perspective here...

Mego defends the continued selection of david mackay, says its all to do with “selection integrity”...

My current query on him would be his desire to become an elite player. He has all the physical tools and skills to be one, not sure about the other side of it yet.

Why? They write off our players after one game in the SANFL

In terms of freeing up list space it would be a great result if the GC17 wanted to take Himmelberg or Frampton off our hands. I'd be inclined to sell pretty low to free up the spot on the list for either.

Super harsh assessment especially considering he's literally played 2 half seasons in that time due to injury and COVID.

I don't think he's reached his ceiling, and can certainly work harder, but you're making him out to be a bust. When that's simply not true, he's just a kid with stupidly high expectations upon him, whose played 25 games in the forward pocket of a terrible team. And to put his role into perspective, if you compare him statistically to what many would refer to as one of the best small forwards going around right now (Tom Papley), his 2021 numbers stack up pretty similarly.

Per Game Average:
Rankine: 12.9 Disposals (7 contested), 3.2 marks, 1.2 goals, 2.7 tackles, 2.7 I50's, 1.8 1%ers, 0.7 goal assists
Papley: 13.1 Disposals (6 contested), 3.9 marks, 1.6 goals, 1.9 tackles, 2.8 I50's, 0.7 1%ers, 0.9 goal assists

Also, should note in those 25 games he's kicked more goals then both Eddie Betts and Cyril Rioli kicked in their first 25 games.

I am not sure anyone is writing off Rankine for future output, however is historical output has been flashes here and there but nowhere near the hype.

He reminds me a bit of Mitch McGovern in that he looked like he could have been anything, based on predicted future projections but he obviously didn't have the mental aptitude or commitment to make that happen.

Is Rankine the same? Who knows, but for him, it is all in the head how good he wants to be and if he is prepared to do the work.

How long have you been posting here for?

If one of our rookies isn’t a super star in their first 20 games then they’re written off!

Spitballing but if there is any truth to tge rumor rankine is homesick, then the club should be looking at offering the 2022 1st and ideally himmelberg as a swap. Himmelberg meets a need for GC as a player in the right age group that helps is a position of weakness and they would also likely get a top 10 pick next year.

For us, if we could get say roberts with our 1st, another mid with our 2nd and then bring rankine, maybe trade the melbourne 2nd for lipinski and grab dudley and o'loughlin. It would represent a massive hit for our rebuild.

I am just thinking if we could hold our picks this year and trade future pick(s) and a player to get rankine this year it would be a huge get

There's a rumour Rankine is homesick? I must have missed that

on the main draft board under the player.. but whilst its nice to think it, I'll believe it when I hear it from a reliable source. although one of the more, well lets say, eccentric GC posters Peelskin said he has heard the rumors and Caro Wilson on 5AA the other day mentioned something in passing

I've always thought him simply playing on the GC would end up being the best recruiting tool for us to bring him back (well that and a big pile of money), so it wouldn't surprise me if there were some not so quiet whispers.

Just a tad earlier then I suspected to hear them.

I don't buy it, he can get by without doing a great deal up there.

Plus his contract is extremely big for a kid who hasn't proven much.

"STAR CROW’S FUTURE UNCERTAIN … BUT HE’D SUIT THE SUNS

Adelaide legend and football director Mark Ricciuto has cast doubt over whether dual All-Australian Daniel Talia will be at the Crows next year.

Asked on Triple M Adelaide whether Talia would be back at the Crows in 2022, Ricciuto said: “I’m not sure. We’ll see how his foot comes up.

“He’s uncontracted.”

Former Crows forward Andrew Jarman said Talia would be a great fit at the Gold Coast Suns.

“They need senior players. They don’t need any more young players,” Jarman told Triple M Adelaide.

“Daniel Talia would be the first one on my list.”

Interesting.

Agree with the first paragraph, to me he’s my UFO people talk about it but only a few see it

Talia would be a great get for the Suns, but it would be crap for Talia. He doesn't deserve that.

I actually think Talia to the Bulldogs would make more sense, especially if they fall short this year. Being uncontracted makes it difficult for us to get much value for him though.

Talia for Lipinski could work for both (we probably add a later pick to balance it out). But do we need him or is he another Hately type?

Highly doubt he'd go to the bulldogs. Bit of bad blood there.
