Perth is a fair bit bigger than Adelaide. Perth is like a smaller version of Melbourne with perfect weather and beautiful beaches. If I was to live anywhere in the world I chose Perth first and Melbourne a close 2nd.

TP you smoking some of Ricks crack?

Adelaide and Perth are very similar. Rick do you like shopping on sunday?Go to Adelaide they have sunday trading.

Now Adelaide and Perth are similar sizes and layouts

They are both surrounded by hills and hillbillys and have beautiful coastlines running approximately 100kms north to south. Yes Perths weather is great, we havent had any real rainfall since november so we need to think about canals and pipelines because our dams are running dry.

Here's an old construction photo of our new $250 million airport terminal, due to open late this year. One hell of a shed eh?

aa4.jpg

Essendon and Avalon airports are bigger than that

Ive been to that hole once, luckily we arrived on GF day 1997/8?. So there was a bit to do, joined in the fun with a parade and stuff with nearly every Adelaide team winning their leagues that year, the entire population of 20 people showed up :p

But other than that and check out the Adelaide Oval, there was ******** all to do. Luckily its within driving distance, type of place you could drive to, see and drive home within 24 hours

Never been more bored on holidays in my life

When that 'shed' is finished it will be just as big and if no bigger and of course NEWER than every other airport terminal in Australia....nice shed eh?

As for Adelaide and Perth well face reaility, the places are the most alike out of all other cities when comparing them. Ive been to Perth, nothing wrong with it, nothing wrong with Adelaide either, both are chilled, Adelaide has the slightly mor relaxed, chill out atmopshere in terms of city life, but I'd live in Perth happily.

The only thing that I hate about both places is the weather, it can be ok but its generally so boring, too much sunshine with a decent lack of storms like Brisbane and Sydney have....if I had to choose, Brisbane would be THE place I'd live.

I think it's pretty sad when someone cans any city (not just Adelaide) like that "oh, I was bored, there was nuffink to do..." In other words, you sat on your arse, made no effort, if it's not handed to you on a plate or it's exactly like your home town, you can't find anything to interest you.

Says more about you than it does about Adelaide. :)

I'll be in adelaide for a short period in about 3 weeks time on business.

Just wanting to know, where can I locate the home of PAFC? I'd like to see it, a big part of Aussie Rules history....
Anyway, and good advice for good pubs, shops etc would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Hey there, Rick.

- PAFC is at Queen St, Alberton, as someone else said. 30 min(?) taxi ride from the city (if you must) you'll find it an interesting piece of football schizophrenia - both the PAFC and the PA Magpies are housed in the same building. Tell us if you can work out which is which, and which one gets the credit for the 1,347 premierships ;)

- As for the rest:

- If you're staying opposite the Casino you're around the corner from the main shopping precinct - Rundle Mall. Also, further along to the east (10 mins walk or so) is Rundle Street - good cafe/restaurant precinct. Also a good pub for a cool and groovy young guy, the Austral.

- Stay AWAY from Heaven  unless you want to mix with drugged up bikies and teens.

- Don't bother with the Casino - it used to be a casino, now it's a pokie palace with the ambience of a bad suburban pub.

- South from your hotel (about 15 mins walk) is the Central Market precinct - Gouger St and Grote St - many good restaurants there.

- If you want a genuine Irish pub (I mean genuine, not fake modern) visit the Brecknock Hotel, on King William St at the suthern end. Irish bands Fri/Sat and some other nights, if you're up for that.

- And of course the Pie Cart will be across the road from you, from 6pm every night :)

- You want wineries? Advice available on request.

It just so happens I'll be in Adelaide at the time, boarding with my good mate Neil Craig. Can't remember the address right now, but feel free to egg it.

Adelaides a good place to live. Home of the most successful football club in Australia. I would strongly recommend a trip to the holy turf, which is Alberton. You can just smell success in the place.

If the smell of success is the same as dogsh.t, then yep you can really smell the success. The irony is that soon Port Adelaide as a suburb will soon be full of Crows supporters as the area is cleaned up and the property prices rise, but don't worry we'll let you visit when the toilets need cleaning:p

Well I'm a scorpio who enoys candlelit dinners and fist fights. Don't mind the odd tattoo as long as it's me putting it on someone else and enjoy pottery.

Seriously, I'm a young bloke, any decent clubs in adelaide? I'm also quite shallow and materialistic, is there any decent shopping precinct there?

I liek adelaide from what i've seen it's a nice laid back place.

And how would i get to Alberton from the Casino? (i'm staying accross the road)

To get to Alberton:

Car/Taxi: 20 min drive down Port rd then turn right at Brougham Pl and you cant miss it

Bus: Catch bus no. (151, 152, 153) and its a 30 min ride down Port Rd and get off at stop 31. When you get off the bus there is a street called Brougham Pl which has a Fish and Chip shop on the corner. When you walk down that street Alberton Oval is on the right. You can't miss it.

Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast stretch is a fantastic lifestyle location. Most other locations are pretty ordinary in comparison. But if I had to choose between Adelaide and Perth, it would be Perth, but nothing wrong with both.

500th post :)

That's not all you can smell. Seriously, I suggest anyone who is planning a trip down Port Adelaide way should arm themselves with a nose peg. You'll thank me for it later.

Mate, you obviously didn't check out the night life when you were here and the bevvy of beautiful woman that call adelaide home. I have lived in both cities and Melbourne is full of gothic, heroin addict bush pigs while adelaide has a plethora of stunning woman.

Did i mention that adelaide is also home of the reigning premiers?
