:.........., Phil Davis, ...........

HB: Alex Keath, Jake Lever, Cam Ellis-Yolmen

C: Ed Curnow, Patrick Dangerfield, Ricky Henderson

HF: Josh Jenkins, Mitch McGovern, Jack Gunston

F: Eddie Betts, , Shaun McKernan, Charlie Cameron

R: Sam Jacobs, Hugh Greenwood, Jarryd Lyons

These are the players still playing in the AFL that have left Adelaide.

Does this core of players, albeit missing a couple of positions, look better than the current Crows team? I think it most certainly does.

This gives that lineup of ex Carlton players made some time ago; a run for its money

You could put 6 SANFL level spuds in that side to fill on the numbers and it would still beat the current Crows team.

Brad Crouch will also leave at years end.

They are in a world of shit and will be for quite some time.

Watching Rankine debut tonight must have been painful for the Adelaide faithful.
On top of the impressive starts from Lukosius and Rozee, it really is damming that with 3 x 1st round draft picks that year, young Reid couldn’t find a way to land any of that sublime homegrown talent ...

Due to COVID19 (which is showing no signs of abating) The Crows have picked simply the worst possible time to bottom out, who knows how many of the next few drafts will be affected with the coronavirus (surely it will still be around next year sadly)

Right now they seem to be in a similar position to Carlton at the end of 2002.

Great so we are losing pick #1 too???

It was simply impossible to get those 2 players for any adelaide side.... GC knew how good those 2 were..... rozee was a big miss for us
I would be more worried on you passing on rainke for Walsh... out of that top 7 of stars... Walsh looks the least exciting.

Really ... you sound understandably bitter.
Walsh has 300 gamer written all over him.
It was not impossible at all, Port showed what could be done with intent and imagination.
Young Reid showed none of that.
With 3 x 1st rounders, he could have found a way to land pick 3 and with it a prospective generational homegrown talent.

The Crows and Reid can be potted for a lot of things but not this IMO. The Suns made their hand pretty darn clear leading up to that draft and I don’t think they were going to budge no matter what

Does a team of established players look better on paper than a team at the start of their rebuild playing a bunch of young players? Why yes it does. Mindblowing.

Realistically though, right now, how many of them would give a left nut to get to your side?

Davis, Dangerfield, Cameron, maybe Gunston. Players like Betts and Jacobs are well past their bes

You'd welcome Lever, Keath if you could get them for a decent price but the rest are role players at best.

Would I have liked to keep a bunch of them? Sure. Was that at all possible for the club? No.

If we had kept some but let Walker or Sloane or the Crouch bros go at some point they would appear in this team. There is no way for us to have kept all that talent plus the few decent players we have now all within a salary cap. No club could have.

So really all your sleuthing does is speak to how well we have selected and developed over the past 12 years.

So....thanks I guess?

Pick 3 could have been levered.
Young Reid had the firepower at his disposal, just lacked the imagination and gumption of his Port counterpart ...

While you make some valid points, I'm not sure any other club could have that sort of roll call of players who have moved on.

Adelaide does have an issue with player retention
