Adelaide's decline

Whilst you are correct in saying that there is a lot to play out.

I hope you are right, but think you may be stretching things to think we will get pick 2 for him. You initially put as if it were almost a done deal. Frawley to the best of my knowledge did not have Crouch's injury history. He played around 50 more games in the same time span. Also James was an All-Australian whilst stlll at Melbourne, which Brad has not achieved.

Just think you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Look, it is cheap to dream, but if you think that we will get pick 2 for Brad Crouch you are being a touch unrealistic. Either that or another club throws stupid money at him. End of 1st round is probably best case scenario, if he does indeed leave.
If we were sitting in 3rd on the ladder and it was suggested we might receive band 1 FA compensation of pick 17-20 for Brad Crouch, it wouldn’t have generated 1% of the discussion. No-one would bat an eyelid.

Crows went from the real deal to uncompetitive in basically an off season.

No need to dwell on the reasons they are in the mess they find themselves, my query relates to their ability to rebuild, or any club's ability to rebuild.

IMO burning the club to the ground and starting from scratch has never been a successful strategy. Yes, teams have risen from the ashes, but ALWAYS on the back of generational talent. For the simple reason that generational talent is bloody hard to get, let alone plan for, why do clubs keep going for the "rebuild" when it is a proven failed strategy? Carlton, Melbourne, Gold Coast head a long list of fails.

It may only be a strategy that could work in the short term but as the Hawks example shows, it is a hell of a lot better than a strategy that is based on waiting for talented 18 year olds to reach their potential.
Wouldn't clubs be better off doing what Hawthorn did, trade out draft picks for established players?

Walker Sloane and Gibbs will all go around again next season for the crows.
All 3 have deteriorated rapidly and all 3 have big contracts that they won’t walk away from and no other clubs would touch.
Lol, no chance all 3 will be playing for the Crows AFL side next season.

Odds are only Sloane will be.

They are all contracted for next season and all on big money.
They will all be on the list next season.
If they are all in the reserves it makes the list management even worse.
Gibbs won't play AFL Crows next season, or possibly ever again. Carlton can get him back on the cheap... now he has separated from his wife. Otherwise we will pay him out.

Imo, Tex will retire. He will walk even if he has a year on his contract.

Sloane will be ok once he is injury free as he is still a good player.

A solid chunk of our best 22? Gibbs hasn’t been best 22 since 2018. Mackay hasn’t contributed anything in his whole career that can’t be replaced by the kids coming through, I’m sure we will miss his 15 anonymous disposals greatly!

Anyone writing off Tex and Sloane only need to look at what Dixon and Boak have been able to do after turning 30. I don’t have a crystal ball to say which way it will go, but it’s way too early to completely write them off from being able to contribute in a positive way to a rebuilding team.

Brodie is 28 and is hardly in decline, just not as consistent as he once was.

Lynch is the only one I agree with, but again we are better off without his constant turnovers by foot and getting games into the next gen.

In case you hadn’t noticed, having pick 1 and likely pick 2 from Brad leaving, along with the Giants first pick is a massive draft hand. Add in our academy and F/S picks and we can aggressively turnover the list again this off season.

Any realistic Crows supporters realise this isn’t a one year rebuild and significant improvements are also required in our coaching and fitness departments for us to even begin to see positive progress, regardless of the playing list. I don’t expect us to be genuinely pushing for a finals spot (not contending, just a finals spot) until 2024 at the earliest.

Tex is done and Sloane is now a mediocre role player on $800k. Signing him for 5 years after it became clear he was no longer a gun mid is as wasteful as Gibbs' contract. We've got to stop rewarding these guys with their biggest contracts in their declining years. It's god awful TPP managemenr.

How come the first I hear of this separation is on the main board? Is this for reals? Would love Carlton to take him back, even if we pay nearly all his salary and get nothing on the trade.

Thought I heard it 1st from the Adelaide Board.

Was just a matter of time she learnt that he hasn't curbed his gambling addiction...

Not interested in Gibbs, he’s broken.
No way Tex walks away from that coin next year, why should he.
The only way these 2 won’t be on Adelaide’s list next season is if the club pay out their hefty contracts.
But how much of this is acceptable.
Betts and Jenkins are being paid by Adelaide to play at other clubs.
Pyke and Burton had their contracts paid out.
Now Gibbs and Walker also to be paid out ?
Surely someone has to be accountable for this state of affairs ?
Sloane has taken a tremendous physical battering and clearly won’t be the player he once was as he ages quickly.
He remains contracted on big money for a number of seasons, is captain, and won’t be going anywhere.

The club has only themselves to blame. Needs a clearout from top to bottom. I'm happy to sit through a few years of wooden spoons if we shed the dead weight, but that happening is hardly likely.

Gibbs separated from his wife? She put up an insta post last weekend when he came back against North.

As a Crows fan, its your responsibility to kick up a massive shit fit and demand that the toxic elements of the culture get cut. If the media crack the sooks, keep going harder.

We are trying! Even Rowey is starting to voice his frustration with our admin and coaching department on his daily radio show, and he would usually defend them through thick and thin. Unfortunately, having very little say on the makeup of the board gives us very little power.

Agree, thought it does make it harder when most of the SA media are full of club ambassadors/apologists who seem more intent on protecting those working for AFC as opposed to best interests of AFC.

Then there are the sensationalist AFL media who seem more intent to cause a shit storm from the largest camp rumour, as opposed to analysing the inner workings of AFC that has taken the club from a premiership window to one of the worst wooden spooners in a long time.
