With Jones, unfortunately I think it is Godden and instruction. When he first came to the club he hunted the ball, now he hunts his opponent.

Should be played forward when he can use his hand, tackling and speed.

Wind was really difficult tonight. Thought Murray was our best. He has no fear going for Marks. He let one or two out the back but he is a player. Mcasey ok again but he needs to work on second efforts. Hatley better but must use ball better. Borlase very good Chayse better second half. Got some separation

Pedlar got 3 goals from a relatively low possession count of 13 touches. Teading these boards you would think he touched it 30 times.
He had a stellar patch in the second quarter.

as others have said, he really faded out of the game in the second half (still classy but didn’t get many touches). Will benefit from 3 or 4 weeks of sanfl footy to build fitness up.

I'd bloody well hope so because West's beanpole ruck Angus Rana is about as far away from am AFL ruckman as you can possibly get.
Mutineer, a little off topic but how do you watch the nab league games?. Ive tried everything using the nab league app and i cant watch the games through this app, it doesnt even give me live stats of the game. Thanks in advance.

I wish they put these games back on youtube.

I watched the last quarter of the Sandy Dragons today only and the app worked fine, last week I watched a couple of games but the app was choppy at times. I actually went into the GWV Rebels vs the Geelong Falcons game last week and watched the game live. The stats usually go up a day or two later and you can get best players and some play by play coverage at the link I've posted. Looking at the weather forecast I think I'll give the triple header over in Bendigo a miss tomorrow so hopefully the app's working tomorrow. ;)

The SANFL Digital Pass shits all over the AFL Nab League coverage.

Match thoughts

Very impressed with Pedlar. Good speed. Composure. Works with ease in traffic. Smart and confident player, the tap on of the ball and subsequent goal early 2nd quarter was class. Need to get this guy in the AFL team. Just needs to work on his non preferred side handball.

Newchurch. Did some good things. Improving. May get a game later in the year.

Jones and Hately dont stand out as AFL quality at this stage.

Thilthorpe slightly better but need to see some more aggression at the ball and player before he gets an AFL game.

Himmelberg just going through the motions. He isn't learning anything playing SANFL. If Frampton spuds it up again then it's time for the switch.

Worrell stands out as a guy with natural talent but learning nothing playing SANFL. Will play better with better players around him.

Murray shows some good signs.
Borlase showing some improvment.
McAsey is passive. Won't be on our list end of year.

Umpires ruined the game with too many frees.

I actually watched all but the last 5 mins ( went out to dinner) and struggle with people's perceptions on this game, it was an excellent win. We are basically a bunch of youngsters being hamstrung by top ups that are mainly not SANFL quality.

There was a lot to like about this game and win, much better than the effort last week, sure I'd like us to dominate a game but with more than a couple of top ups, we are running uphill.

Really liked Pedlar, think the Macca call is a little OTT but the kid is a very good footballer, for a guy without match fitness to impact a game that well...got a good one there

Good to see our KPFs work their way into the match, they can both do more but it was a much better effort than last week.

We need a better ruck than Strachan...we just do, he's OK but it makes it hard for our mids to take control

Strachan was our #1 ranked player on the ground yesterday. Shows you how misleading those things can be.

Good character type win for the young group. Didn't play that well for that long, and opposition wasn't great but it was a win all the same.

Pedlar very good, once the match fitness comes he won't be hanging around the SANFL very long

I don’t mind the look of Sweet from the dogs. Whether he’d come is another question.

When's the last time Ned or Jones got 3 goals in the ressies?

Ned kicked 4 in the 2019 SF.

Jones hasn't. Kicked a goal every second game though.

Not in Nicks' eyes if you listen to his presser, he's been fulfilling the role they have set for him, the only reference he made was he'd like to see him stick more of his marks. Pretty obvious he's Tex's decoy from listening to the presser.

Kelly praised Berg's form in his Friday AA interview and suggested him an option to come in for Sloane with the requisite shuffle(s).

If it's not coaching as you say go watch some of his U18's or Tassie State League footage, this is not the same player we're watching, he's gone from an absolute ball hunting attacking mid to what we're watching today since joining us.

I think it's fair to assume that our coaches have gotten it 100% right. They're never wrong.

RT just isn't at that stage of his development. He'd be totally sh*t at AFL.
I'm not so sure.

He's fit enough, strong enough and capable. He's ahead of a number of draftees in terms of development and I can't see him being worse than Frampton.

Having just read through this, it would seem nearly all of those were in the first half. Guessing that fitness is lacking. In any case, dominating SANFL from siren to siren is for SANFL players. Just need to see quality outcomes here and there from the talent and proof of AFL level fitness.
