Good signs when Matthew Wright, David Mackay, two top ups and a staff member are our leading ballwinners.

McAsey and Worrell dreadful. Jones has been given first look at the ball, but he is very unclean in handling. Thilthorpe is not a FF: he only excels on the wing/flanks. Berg has been excellent and the only one looking for promotion. Mackay has not seen it a lot, but looks very smooth in the run and carry, unlike every other crow.

Overall, it's the same as any other week. The oppo play as a team and run and kick it to each other, without any inconvenience from us, while we do none of those things. Any goal we get is either an accident or the result of isolated individual effort. That Wright seems to be our best player every week is telling. ;)

Yeah, it's absolutely inexplicable. First round mids should nearly always be successes. Jones was excellent as a kid. Others we drafted the same year have been good. He just doesn't look anything like a professional footballer.
Hes a great kid from a good family though..

hasnt shown anything at all since he got to the club.. but at least he wont get caught with coke.

Nicks has basically bragged about not making unforced changes after a win. Would be pretty demoralising for the younger guys. Even Butts would still be playing SANFL if Talia wasn't injured.

Blaming Jones’ output on our coaches/development is letting Chayce off the hook. After all, the same people coach Sholl, Berry and Hamill. The kid has to take responsibility for his form, Grit his teeth and have a crack. Otherwise, it’s actually time to let him go.

Two years left on his contract.

And put a clamp on Riley Knight.

Maybe time to turf Godden out for good if this is the best he can do. The heat will also be on Marco Bello if our younger guys start to stagnate.

We have absolutely butchered Chayce’s development, hopefully Nicks, VB, Burns and co.don’t make the same mistakes with Cook and Pedlar.
Completely different players. It was a poor pick. Not every player makes it. A lot don't tbh.

Himmelberg is the only one today to look like he's AFL ready and even then he was quiet late in tha 2nd quarter . Thilthorpe miles off.

Particularly for Worrell who has been pushing and playing really well. All of a sudden he sees that he's actually not going to get a go. His head drops a bit and he suddenly is out of form.
No doubt when there is an opening to play him, we won't because he won't be in form anymore. Just as well Mackay is always ready...

Bit concerning that Thilthorpe looked good playing for West Adelaide the last two years and so far this season not great for us.
Have to think if we're giving these young players way to much information to take in.

True, maybe he isn't good at digesting instruction at the AFL level and goes overboard with trying to implement them 110%.

We seem to have let Sholl and Hamill play their natural games, as running half-backs. Easiest position on the field.

Chayce seems to always be on the defensive side of the contest, something that appeared to be drummed into him under Godden in 2020.

Early days obviously but if Thilthorpe doesn't make it in the long run, Hamish will need to go. Our KPF stocks are already pretty dire.
Some questions already need to be asked. If Thilthorpe doesn't become a top 5 player in our club, then Hamish is definitely gone.

We are still heavily relying on our senior players in the AFL to play well in order to win.

We still very much in need of some elite young talent on the list
I believe it's a bit of a two step process rebuilding a team.

First it's making the first 22 competitive and then it's building depth underneath to build pressure and competition for spots.

I think we are half way through step 1.

Agree. We keep not playing him until he's out of form to justify not picking him when he was in form. Crows logic.
