Murphy won't be playing next year. He is a very average player.
I hope so but I think he’s be better down back. We all hope Rankine can fix our small forward problem cause I see Rachelle as a half forward that runs into the midfield once he’s fit enough

Frampton's defensive work has improved considerably. He spoiled a lot more in this match, and they went miles.
I wouldn't get rid of him.
Yep, his defensive stuff has improved a lot over the last half of the year. He will look good for another team but still would struggle for us with our atypical defense setup, which needs super competitive one on one guys, hence why we've gone for Butts and Murray (and Worrell is no slouch, Borlase is improving rapidly and Fish was a high draft pick who might come on yet (and Michalanney to come in)). So we can probably go without Billy, especially if list sizes are staying the same. Am a bit sad to lose someone as quick as he is and as good a kick for his size tho. Also sad we can't keep on a player who is also a supporter of the Crows.

So we just freeze at a talent level not good enough to ever win a premiership?

Great idea.

So trading in Dawson last year, Rankine this year is freezing talent level?

We could draft a mid who will be a really good player in 4-5 years time or look to trade for one that has already had 3-6 years in the system. Or perhaps we feel Pedlar is that guy once he gets his body built to sustain the power he shows.

We already have Pedlar, Cook, Taylor, Gollant etc that we struggle to invest AFL time into. We don’t necessarily need another 4-5 draftees each year on top of that.

Watching this final have to be happy some of our latest later draft picks played like .
Taylor -- very impressive skills and footy nous , why why didn't get a gig in place of those 3 not mentioning names at season end surely seen how eventually gave Worrall a go worked.
Nankervis -- Has real talent to compete and create run. Needs to size up but maybe by next season end may push AFL selection.
Turner -- still dont see point in selection as kids same size mid type players need to give AFL opportunities to but he was very very impressive in ball skills and nous.
My thoughts others .
Pedlar -- we paid big price to get him but very very impressive with his endeavour and run ,but like most of team disappointed when clear bombing into attack rather than looking .
Gollant -- big hopes for but was only passable on this game but attack ball in air well and thought both him and McAsey were unlucky to get paid mark or chopping arms frees.
E H -- not great but just does that something to think could happen.
Cook -- A real fan of and thought should not have been dropped but like others said needs to lift intensity . But a way off the draft pick we paid for so just hope it clicks for him as more talent in big toe than HFF that picked every game.
McAsey -- look his recovery is very poor but competed well in air and unlucky like listed under Gollant to not have more marks paid .
Hope get something reasonably worthwhile for or run his contract out .
Davis -- goodbye thanks
Frampton -- I think he is good player and would keep unless get a reasonable trade for.
Borlase -- only a rookie but think we can do better as cheap trade or late draft.
Sholl -- Think lost way a bit since got dropped but has skills and just hope maybe get a trade for as not Nicks type player.
Newchurch --- now we have Rankine I not sure worth keeping as very poor and much as love to have speed in AFL team dont think he is answer.
Finally can Bicks or someone else in know think would Kennerley who had chance at Geelong and was I believe in SA u-17 championship team worth looking at.
And what is Jack Hirds footy past as was impressive in defence with real intercepting skills and worth a low pick on with our defence back ups looking thin.
I agree with you about Kennerley, he is an impressive footballer. I love the way he attacks the ball and perhaps a bit more maturity has helped his game.
Only 22 years of age, if he keeps playing to this level someone will have a look at him I feel.

VFL selection criteria for finals is pretty interesting, all they require is minimum 6 VFL games and no more than 12 AFL games.

If that was also the case in the SANFL, we'd have Crouch, Parnell, Milera and Hately all also playing for us in the finals

Yet another reason we should already be making the move to the quasi AFL reserves competition. Having our players being able to compete in finals with their team mates instead of a 3rd of the team made up with top ups.

Unfortunately Olsen won't be upsetting his mates and denying them 500k per season fee plus the extra home games each SANFL club gets.

I didn’t realise that, shows how young we really are. He’s no lock in our best 22, we are so inexperienced

One of the frustrations reading some of the comments on this board - and using the Sydney game as an example as they are one of the youngest good teams in the comp

Sydney had 11 x 100 game players when we played them and I think 6 between 60-80 games

We had 3 x 100 game players and 6 60-80 game players.

So if we grabbed our least experienced 8 players, magically gave them 4 preseasons and 4 full seasons of uninjured footy then we would have matched a “youthful” Sydney for experience

So 80 games on TT, Soligo, Parnell, Murray, Butts, Rachele, Berry, Schoenberg as an example - could put Pedlar, Rankine, Worrell, etc

How much stronger, fitter and more composed would we be?

Now generally sides like Geelong, Richmond, Brisbane,Port, Bulldogs have 14-17 100 gamers playing each week

In the Showdown Port had 11 over 100 ( 6 over 150) and 5 players under 50 games. We once again had 3 over 100 (200 actually) 12 under 50. The difference that makes in terms of training, preseasons and knowledge at the level is enormous

Pedlar looks like he will be handy around half forward with spurts in the middle as he builds his tank .

We are building a nice core that can spend time through the guts .

Taylor looks class as well .

Just need that powerful , taller type but that might be a mature 24-25 yr old at the end of 2023 .

Even if playing in VFL they would still use top ups. can’t see list numbers being increased by 6-10 to make complete reserves teams, certainly not in near term

I’d be wrapped for Adelaide to join if only for you to direct your incessant and tiresome bitching elsewhere.

Plus Sydney’s best players are all academy 😡 Heeney, Mills, Gulden and Campbell.

Seriously though, we say experience and that means a lot of things. Fitness is a major factor in young players and having that strong body to take a hit and get up. I hate when people say it’s an excuse, it’s actually a reality.

How do young players without games played become players with games played?

Yes, Dawson and Rankine are not the elite midfielders we need. If, as you claim, we've effectively ended drafting players in the rebuild then it has produced no elite midfield prospects, cannot win a premiership, and has failed.

Thankfully I think you're just making things up.

Honestly I really hope the “Crows” don’t win it.

It’s just all sorts of wrong.

I hope they do- there are no sympathetic clubs left and it's the funniest of the remaining possibilities.

I agree with this, after Sturt getting knocked out there’s no one else left that hasn’t had recent success so I’d be happy for Adelaide to win, the bonus being the outrage of Port supporters

The Crows colours on the brickworks markets chimney would really piss Port and anti-Crows people off.

Adelaide defender Billy Frampton is under investigation after an incident during the third quarter of Sunday’s Qualifying Final against Norwood at Adelaide Oval. (Misconduct)
