Incredibly proud of the boys. Considering we were missing Boris and Chappy while they were at full strength and coming off a week's rest, we showed lion's heart and should have won. Johnson, Mackie, Bartel, Mackie were colossal while Hunt, Lonergan and Rivers let us down. Varcoe should not pull on the Cats jumper ever again.

I will say though good effort by Geelong this year and some of the kids, Caddy, Motlop, Vardy, Duncan, Murdock, etc. are going to keep us up there for a while.

And my man Cam Guthrie! Such a champ.

Retire Hunt, delist Rivers, delist Hmac, trade Varcoe for a pick.

List problems fixed.

I'd also think Pods should consider retirement and we should start giving Kersten consistent game time next year. If we're aiming for a flag in 2015, as Scott says, it's time to start changing our selection methodology to really allow for that. We need a real number 1 ruck and we need to stop flirting with sentimental, romance stories, like we have done with Blitz. We need to start giving consistent game time to guys like hyphen and others who are performing well at VFL level.

Have to focus emphatically on fitness and attitude over the off-season. Teach the side to become ruthless.

Couple of boys didn't do well tonight, but the boys were up against it.
We fought our heart out and I feel as proud to be a cat as I have ever been.
Now to cheer on the boys on Sunday. Go catters!

That about sums up my feelings.

Varcoe wasn't that bad, he ran hard most of the game.

What cost us was playing Blicavs over West. Blicavs just has no impact, he can't defend, he can't mark, he can't ruck.

Pretty happy we put up a good fight. Could see 5min into the last quarter we were going to get overrun.

Who on the coaching panel things it is a good idea for Bartel to kick in, and bomb it to a pack every time for it to return with interest? Been happening the last month. Give it to Guthrie who can actual hit up a lead.

Yep, made many crucial mistakes kicking in. That turnover with 11 minutes to go in the Hawks goal square was just terrible though. A 20m grubber kick in the corridor that the Hawks got a goal from. It changed the game tbh. As for Varcoe's miss under pressure, are most people really surprised? We were so gallant though. Thanks for a great game Cats.

And my man Cam Guthrie! Such a champ.

He played very well and was clearly in our best players. Guthrie was very composed with the ball. Unfortunately many others were not and just bombed the ball forward without trying to spot up a player.

We lost, I knew we would coming in, I knew we would when we were 20 points up at 3 quarter time. But I believed when Caddy kicked that goal. I will never forgive you Josh Caddy, you made me believe.

Bloody hell would take Thurlow over Hunt every day of the week as well. Why did he have to break his cheekbone :'(.

Yeah and he didn't do shit for the other 120 minutes of the game now did he...

Either did Hawkins or Pods or whoever was playing on Mitchell and Birchall, but I don't see anyone blaming them for the loss.

I wonder if vinum creep will be around defending Varcoe this week. Just shows that guy knows F* all about football.

Come on CF, there were a lot of errors all round from a number of guys. So I can't see how you can pin it to one bloke.

Even Jimmy's disposal was woeful at times. FFS, Selwood from the first bounce going forward in the last quarter with no-one on him still turned it over kicking inside 50 with a spud kick. So there is a lot to improve on and I really cannot see how one player can be blamed in this.

Even Taylor's first 30 mins was terrible, I don't think he touched it.

Chris needs to make some SERIOUS changes. We need a better number one ruck. We need to cut some drift wood. Once we lost to Freo AT HOME we were in shit. Why we brought in McIntosh when he wont play a game is disturbing. Get Wells into the trades department and get him to bring in some gems please.
We need a number one ruck, which we didn't have tonight.

So you can probably see why we went for Hmac during the off-season.

We left everything out there, just couldn't finish it off unfortunately.. But proud of the boys..

Saying that its disappointing how often Hawks forwards were left goal side to run into open goal in the last quarter, something Mackie needs to think about.

Such a pity that kicked sailed just past duncan and went to varcoe as i have no doubt mitch would have kicked it.

We were so good and so brave, just ran outof legs in the end.

Hate losing to thr hawks, but very proud of our year in a rebuilding phase.

Would also like tocongratulate corey and hunt in what i assume are their last games for the club.neither had a great night, but both have been wonderful servants of the club and triple premiership players. They will be greatly missed by the group.
