Was a good fightback by Sydney and it took Freo's best players in the last quarter to wrest back the momentum and win. Fyfe is a beast. As for the score reviews, the less said the better. I don't think there were blatant errors either way that cost sides a game.

Freo's biggest challenge is going to be setting up a top two berth this season and being able to rest key players at certain periods so that we can find an extra gear in finals.

A 4-0 start is perfect and it's the first time in club history, but I know that Sydney and Hawthorn have more to offer in the long run and Port's performance in R1 against us wasn't their best.

It's one thing to beat these sides now, but to do it on the big stage – particularly at the MCG on grand final day – means we still need to improve.

It hit the post.... it bounce right off and into tippett. Johnson's leg was nowhere near it.

Not sure if your trolling or just blindly one eyed...that hit johnsons leg clear as day.

Interesting how the afl didnt put any of the contentious holding the ball frees in freos 50 or the 2 dubioua video reviews in their highlight package, yet plays like parker taking a chest mark inside 50 made the cut.

Some serious questions need to be asked about some of the umpiring last night.

Not making excuses, freo deserved the win and thoroughly outplayed us for most of the game, but everyonce could admit that the umpiring did have an influence on the game

Well duh, the goal reviews were always going to be umpire's call. Cameras were so bad and the umpire were obviously talked to at half-time to "even" up the free kicks.

Boundary umpires should be able to change the goal umpires mind
And? Like this is an AFL thing. This isn't the first time that a team has been screwed over by non-calls or overrules.

We have Ryan Crowley so we see him get punched, taken out high and pushed in the back but nothing is called because its Ryan Crowley.

But, but, but

Walters is a ducker and a dirty sniper... great combination.

Not sure about the sniper bit but he played for way too many frees last night.

Nice comeback from the Swans but don't underestimate how hard it is for a team to stop momentum like the Swans had and still win. Showed a bit we did.

I most definitely agree to disagree with that one. To me it looked like it hit the post. Three Freo plays were very vocal as well. Three players all at the same time said it hit the post.

It was hardly clear either way though.

Great start by Freo.

My pick to play Hawks in the GF.

One major thing getting in the way again?

Apart from Fyfe, some key elements of your team are on the wrong side of 30.
McPharlin (33), Pavlich (33), Sandilands (32), Johnson (30).
Those 4 alone were a problem at years end last year being unable to stay fit for a full season.
Should they stay fit then Freo are a big chance.
My hunch is that just like last year, these same key players of your team will not be at their best when it matters.

Fyfe is a joy, saved Freo's bacon last night no doubt. Let's hope he doesn't suffer from Reiwoldt (N) or Selwood syndrome and become that player that other clubs hate because he's become the umps' love child.

Are you serious? I just watched it on Fox and it hit the post clear as day mate. Take your rose coloured glasses off.

The bonus this year will be having a great start like this, so we can rest those guys on the run home. Last year we had to fight all season for top 4, and it took its toll on the older guys. If Freo finish top two, it could very well be their year (finally!)
