Kinda sucks this thread got derailed so quickly. I'm interested to see how Richmond fans are feeling, with the history of ridiculous misfortune (most recently in their several slim losses)

It feels unreal...as in not real...but I've been a Richmond fan for too long to get ahead of myself.

I now it's a cliche, but I'm kinda just going one week at a time...Were favorites this week, but not huge favorites so lets focus on winning this one. Grand final just seems to 'odd to really embrace yet.

That said, the opposition (sorry 'neutral') people jumping on us left, right and center inevitable draws a reaction and makes us look a lot more enthused than I think we really are.

Feeling anxious and utter excitement at the same time. I hardly remember mid to late 1990s and 2001 finals for Richmond. My love for Richmond runs DNA deep, and with that has come a lot of pain and disappointment. And at the same time, I've experienced so much joy and reward, simply being apart of the Tiger Army. I'm totally looking forward to Saturday, but I have this deep sense of reluctance to keep a lid on it and sadness, waiting at the door.

Carn the tigzzzzzzzz!

Yes agree

The OP asks a reasonable question framed by his/her experience last year that has parallels with the Tigers.

Certainly no harm in owning up to feeling awful in the lead up.

I vividly recall the day of the big Geelong v Collingwood prelim in 2007. Felt physically ill in lead up with the tension . Game didnt help

I think Tigers can win here , it's on the G and that gives them a bit of an edge, they were impressive v Geelong and reckon they'll back it up
Of course they can win
Soft teams dont make the PF stage. Dont think the ground matters much though, it's down to the 22 of the clubs.

It comes down to hunger. Richmond's goal was to win a final. Done. GWS have a burn inside to atone for letting last year's prelim slip away.
It's finished business Vs unfinished business.

But no doubt this is GWS's grand final. Whoever they meet next week will be easier.

And that there should tell you watching games is a better indication of a players worth than straight stats.

Haven't watched a lot of Grigg this year or last. But in the past he was the shining beacon of all that was wrong with Richmond. Horrible with ball in and in both decision making and execution. Looked genuinely dazed and confused when he got the ball for 5 or 6 seasons.

Maybe he looks better now as he just either kicks to space which works for the tigers forward line or gives it to Dusty.

Dusty being number 1 probably reflects the value you get when Dusty pulls off a 60m bullet, though sometimes they miss, plus he gets a hell of a lot of kicks and many of them under pressure. I don't think you could say the same with Grigg, I can't remember ever being impressed by anything he's done in the dozen or so matches I would have seen him play.

Where was that burn against Adelaide? I've so no indication this year that Giants are trying to make up for last year.

Amazing he racked up 11 Brownlow votes in 2012 and has been top 5 in our B&F twice and top 10 every season except the one he was injured.
All while being dazed and confused every time he got the ball. Hmmmmmmm

Ugh, bring back the Hawks dynasty already tbh. Their fans were annoying after four flags, but Richmond fans are already far after the one finals win.
We were annoying before that finals win TYVM

The way our club has gone about things this year suggests that won't be the attitude. Mid year when we were hovering around 5th-6th we could've just plodded along, made another elimination final and been considered a fair success given we were expected to finish bottom 6 and nothing last year indicated much otherwise. But over the last 2-3 months we've lifted and become a team that has given ourselves a legitimate crack at a flag. Similarly we could just call it a day and give up for the year now.
If the players give it everything and we're just not quite good enough to win this week or next, that's fine, but I'd be incredibly pissed off if the players come out on Saturday like they've checked out of footy and into mad Monday. You don't make a preliminary final only to make a preliminary final. I'm expecting two teams to come out on Saturday equally fired up and ready to go.
