I think the Lions' lack of forward line structure is going to be found out a bit this game, and exposes a weakness on our list. No Hipwood and McStay would be like the Dogs losing Bruce and Naughton in terms of structure. Add Rayner out and that's three best 22 starting forwards missing.

McStay is also leads our forwards in terms of inside 50 tackles, so he'll be a loss on that side too. The defensive efforts of Daniher and Cameron especially, was quite disappointing last week.

Looking at our side, I suspect we'll throw one of our key defenders up forward. Adams probably makes the most sense, but he's also our most in form key defender and was one of the few that had a decent game against Melbourne. Andrews and Gardiner both are struggling with injury it seems. Will be interesting to see what the coaching staff do.

McInerney in the ruck will be a potential advantage for the Lions. He had his colours well and truly lowered by Naitanui who was incredible, but before and after that he's done well against Darcy, Grundy and Gawn. English and Young should be an easier match-up for him, and we need him to have a very good game because the Dogs midfield is deeper than ours. I like the inclusion of Robertson, because he's shown he can do a decent job lining up on inside mids like Selwood, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Libba.

Do not feel good about this game at all, especially with our forward line structure the way it is. Scoring well has been our biggest strength, and our capacity to score well has taken a significant hit.

I'd have thought Adams goes to Schache. Could intercept all day.

Feel like Fagan is the anti-thesis of Bevo. Doesn't change the structure from game to game or on the fly. Brings in like for like when there is an injury. Barely drops a player and has a good understanding of what his best 22 looks like.

Now THAT is a massive call. I can name at least 3-4 worse than Doggy 😉

So, the game. I can see this being very close either way or a total blowout (8-10 goals) either way. Both teams missing players they would rather have out there but with good enough teams that they can cover their losses. Hoping for a good, entertaining game - which these teams can provide.

Honestly, if you Guys get going between the arcs and create supply then you'll go a long way to winning. Our mids have a habit of not defending - its being called 'the Lions leg rope', we give oppo a nice 15 meters of space at all times.

Although when we do pressure once a month it's sone of the best pressure you'll see.

If you Guys get your tail up and start running in waves, we will find it hard to slow you down.

Our backs are pretty solid, it's been over stated that they are struggling, a bad night last week, sure - but generally we can defend entries well.

Oscar should beat Young.

Our forward line, at the Gabba, even without McStay, Hipwood and Rayner is still good. Charlie, Joe, Linc, Bailey, Cocky.. a resting Oscar. If it its the carpet in there to often we will win.

Another thing obviously in our favour is our Gabba record, people are jumping off us (maybe rightly so) but we are ****ing hard to beat at home. 8 goal quarters, locking in it our forward half for huge periods at a time, running in waves.. if we find a spark at home then we are very hard to beat.

We are in patchy form. But the Doggies form too? not as sold as others. Yes, the vs Dons second half was powerful but they are shit in the wet and I reckon they let go after half time, still question marks there.

Mentally, this game is a big worry for me. Straight sets looms large. I feel like you guys go into it with that 'free swing' status and we are going in with that 'everything to lose' status. Big concern.

I think you guys are mentally tougher than us right now, ill be honest.

Also, as is well documented - injuries and players playing injured is a massive issue. Robinson, Andrews, Gardiner, Birchall all with injury clouds, the players we have out. it's a worry.

All up I think it's a 50/50 game, on nutual territory with no crowd I reckon you win - the home crowd might get us over the line.

I agree to a 40+ blow out either way would not surprise me in the slightest - if either team realises this week and the prelim is a bridge too far, they might let go of the rope and say 'see ya later 2021' pretty quickly.

Itll be a good game no doubt. Very intetesting duel.

Very good comment. Comes finals, you may not have next week, need to be ready with plan b,c,d. Bevo has the upper hand here.

1 point win by the home side

Shot after the siren by Mitch Robinson down by 5 points and he kicks it.
The celebrations are going crazy but then there's a score review and it appears the ball narrowly scraped the post and the Dogs win it by 4 points.

One month goes by and the Brisbane Lions do their end of year review and say goodbye to a couple of warriors, namely Mitch Robinson.

The following week Dad's Army are decimated by the youthful Dees by the tune of 83 pts.

Mitch Robinson then gets traded to Geelong to inject a bit of youth into their list. ;)

On a side note. He has re-signed for 2022.

Any chance crowds will not be allowed in? Not sure how Queensland reacts to these things normally but theres a bit of talk of a lockdown in the news this morning...

The QLD CHO had a presser about an hour ago and there was no mention of a lockdown or any mention of no crowd at the Gabba so all good to go, reports are the crowd will be a good one ie. 30,000+.

Bevo had a sook earlier in the week about how he and his team are stuck in their rooms whilst GWS were out playing golf in Perth this week.

If this is the same feeling of the playing group they will come out soft and Brisbane will thump them.
Why would they come out soft from that? If anything they will be p!ssed off and come out trying to prove a point
