Sholl was within 1 metre of the ball when it went out. The HTB decision was touch and go also, it got knocked out of the tackle by the demons player. Both of these are 50/50 decisions, you want the umps to put the whistle away in the finals minutes in a close game.

We had a lot of chances going forward and didn't take them, so we shouldn't have given the opportunity for those late decisions to matter.

We played average and they played well. We missed Salem but fair play Adelaide

There's a body of evidence from across the world of sports on umpiring deciding to NOT call free kicks at the end of games, no matter if its the correct call.

There's a really good article on the Japanese line judge that cost Serena Williams a Grand Slam on a foot-fault (correctly) and was hounded out of the sport, comparing it to the lauding of the referee's "non call" on a quarterback sack that led to the Tyree "helmet" catch to end the Patriots' perfect NFL season in 2012.

M8 Oliver has a free pass to throw the ball. You ducked all game. The consensus of the thread prior to the last minute was that you had the rub by far. You failed to capitalise on it.

There are some more levelheaded supporters in your review thread saying as much. I appreciate the frustration but you may yet come to appreciate the loss as a reality check. Wins tend to paper over the cracks.

Regardless, Melbourne shouldve buried us well before the last minute when they had rhe umps on side for 3.5 qtrs

We can't expect umpires to have superhuman vision and hearing and pick up on every touch. We also can whine about the deficiencies technology, bit that's not the umpires' fault.

However, we can expect them not be complete cowards and make obvious calls even if they scared.

Unless you're a moron, you can work out why they were not equivalent calls.

Melb won the freekicks narrowly on the day, away from home, that's all anyone can ask, 1000 decisions are 50-50 for the umps so it should come out that way in the freekicks.

It's when you consistently get 2-3x less freekicks that you should start complaining!!
