Despite their terrible MCG record, GWS beat Collingwood in the 2019 prelim. Fremantle have a good chance of winning, they have a decent record against the pies in Melbourne.
ha! I'm thinking Collingwood myself. We could win, but Freo can make it hard to believe in them. Been a good year though.
Best of luck!

Freo have had a grand season, when they switch it on they look marvellous, defensive integrity and youthful exuberance, even impertinence.

But against this cult-like happy nihilism the Pies deploy, well, I think Freo could end up at the bottom of the Yarra, tied to an anchor, gasses slowly releasing from their orifices causing little bubblets on the surface.
Oddly specific.

Says the Swans supporter whose team got the ride of their lives on Friday night. Imagine if Ginnivan had been shoved in the back and taken a dive and then run at his opponent only be bumped over by the stronger man for 50m in a huge momentum changing moment. I only wish Cox and Ginnivan got the ride sooky Buddy has had for years.

Your comments on Nick Daicos are cringeworthy. And we did thump Freo in their backyard earlier this year. No guarantees, but we have handled them before.
Ginnivan has earnt his reputation.
One of the older players should have taken him aside months ago and told him to pull his head in. Instead, they let him make a fool of himself. Eddie’s ethics at play. It is what it is.

I'm genuinely not expecting anything but am excited that the youngsters get this opportunity. Massive hostile crowd, if they can make a game of it, it will be massive for their development going forward into big games at G in future. Have to make something of it though and not just roll over.

The wind will be trickier than a bit of rain/dew on the surface. Especially when you don't play there regularly. Bloody hard to kick goals from the shane warne/punt rd pocket in particular...
The Dom Sheed pocket?

Freos record against Collingwood isn’t that impressive st the G. Yes they won in 2019 when Walters kicked a goal in the last minute but before that, you have to go back to 2006. Pies had won 6 in a row at the G between then.

GWS beat Collingwood a year earlier at the G in our GF year. Also GWS had experience of playing in front of 95K with barely any support in 2017.
Freo have never played in front of a 60K since the 2013GF.
There will likely be 80k-85k there tonight with 10% of the crowd at absolute best supporting Freo.

Many Collingwood supporters lining up to get in yet?

happy for people to bump this post after the game, especially freo fans, but I can't see Freo getting within 50 points of Coll. They probably should've lost to the bulldogs last week.
Interested how you get to such a ridiculous margin...?

We haven't lost by over 46 all season, and the 2 big losses we had (Coll by 36 and Melb by 46) were both in the pouring rain..

on the flip side, Collingwood haven't won a game by over 2 goals in 3 months!

We have next to no injury concerns, where is Collingwood have little niggles in a lot of players, and missing their best clearance player. 1 knock test into Degoeys shoulder and he wont be able to lift his arm either...

I think this is a genuine 50/50 game, with rightly so Collingwood being a home game favourites...

People overestimate the crowd factor anyway, if Freo loses blaming the crowd is just a copout.

Got last night's pick wrong but not changing on this one. I want Freo to win but I don't think they can score enough to catch Collingwood.

For Freo to win:
  • Collingwood need to kick for goal inaccurately
  • Collingwood need to be exposed badly on turnover
  • The weather to make it more of a scrap

I can't see Freo kicking more than 65-70 for the night and will have to keep Collingwood below that.

a lot of good points there. I just think the bulldog game there was a lot of red flags. The dogs are bog average and most teams would've gone on with that lead. I hope you're right, I'm going for Fremantle but after seeing my mob smash you guys I didn't see any resistance. I also don't rate my own teams form at the time so I'm not sure. If it was at Perth I would give you guys a much bigger chance. but imagine 90k Collingwood fans yelling for holding the ball for Ginnivan. There's 5 goals right there with the umpires crumbling to the noise of affirmation. I don't trust the umpires to call a neutral game.

I think tonight the crowd is a factor
75-80k pies fans
I know last week they came back from a long way the dockers but that won’t happen again tonight
Going to have to start well

Freo have won six games when trailing at halftime. They are notoriously slow starters but often blow teams off the park in the 3rd quarter- I agree that they won't overcome a 40 point deficit again but two or three goals won't bother them

I’ve had faith all year if we’re within 6 goals at the half we’re a chance unlike the last 6 years.
It’s a big ask but if we can neutralise the crowd and be even at the half we will win.

Yeah ditto. I look at it as a free hit. Winnable, but everything would need to go right.
If they don't get blown off the park then the experience will be invaluable.
Forward line is a worry though, especially if Son-Son isn't 100.00%
