The only one I'm really sketchy on is Docherty. It's fairly obvious why and that has been backed up by medical experts opinions over the past 24 hours.

He'll probably be fine but the risk to reward ratio is not desirable, compared to having a standard 12 month rehab and attacking 2025 with a stronger chance at a flag.
Every player has a beginning and an end. I think most Blues fans are of the opinion that if he re-injures the knee he'd be a fair chance on just calling it quits. He's already back training and all the rest of it so realistically he's just as much chance doing it there than he is on Saturday night.

A H&A specialist is old Charlie 'please sir may I have another free' Curnow.

Only 3 goals across 3 games in last year's finals series after winning the Coleman.

How many goals did Charles kick on Harris Spudrews in rd 0 and how many free's did he have that game again? Memory seems to be failing me

Whats the worse that happens? He re-injures it and retires? End of the day he's putting his hand up to play and the clubs selected him on the fact that even after all his knee injuries he's a very very good player.

He'd know if he does it again he's probably done.

No different to any of the other injured blokes trying to get up for this game from a club perspective imo.
The alternative is recover fully and play footy for another 3 years when the blues have a real shot at a flag.

As I said, a H&A specialist. Next question.

That is not correct, there is a correlation between recovery time and reoccurrence. Less risk playing next year, with a greater chance of a flag too!

If this was true and verified by data, why are the vast majority of players given 12 month rehab/conditioning programmes before being brought back for the proper stuff? It is a gamble until we know for sure that 6 months offers 0% more risk than 12 after an ACL (especially a 3rd ACL).

I'm not disagreeing that its a bigger risk of re-injury pre 12 months, what I'm saying is he's gone superhuman on his rehab to get back for the finals and has been in full training for 5 weeks now. He's not going to back off from that now and wait another 7 months to get back into full ROM exercises and intensity etc, he'd be joining in pre season day 1 where he'd be pretty much just as likely to re-injure the knee as he is playing on Saturday given he'd be coming back in November/December where he'd still be well ahead of schedule.

Yeah fair enough.

Doch's been one of my favourite non-Cats players over the years and an inspiring story so I genuinely hope for the best. Just a little nervous.

Team going into elimination final select team that will give us the best chance at victory... DESPERATION PLAY!!!!!!!!!

Wtf do you people expect them to do? We're massive underdogs for good reason, Charlie is wearing an ankle brace at training, TDK apparently did his first main session in months and if we lose all the players go on an extended break til next year anyway... No crap we're gonna roll the dice and hope it pays off. We don't really have another option outside of playing a few 3rd and 4th gamers...

To be fair the Lions went into the 2003 GF with 8 injured players - Lappin had a cracked rib. You do what ya got to do sometimes.

But surely you can see that is totally different to risking an acl on the first week of finals. If this was the grand final we were talking about, easy decision to play Docherty.

Curnow is playing right?

He completed match simulation Monday. Which was a big and tough hit out for the group.

He should be fine to play - I just hope he doesn't put too much pressure on himself other than competing and kicking straight for goal if he gets his chance. The game will be won or lost in the middle anyway

Yet he ripped your esteemed (yet flakey) team a new one, causing them to expel all of their various bodily liquids, as they gave up a 46 point lead in 20 minutes.

I can see why you might be a little nervous…
