doesn't matter. they can choose to, or choose not to follow them

Except it does matter

RULE 20.1.2 (b)
Protected Area

No player shall enter and remain in the protected area unless the field umpire calls “Play On” or the player from the opposing team is accompanying or following within 2 metres of their opponent.

————

Umpire did not call play on prior to Port player entering protected area so first condition is not met. Second condition is not met either as a Carlton player was not within 2 metres. Stevic was right to not let play on occur there.

Yes. It’s not that complicated. If the umpire tells you to do something, do it. If they don’t, defer to the rulebook.
You do realise how silly that is, don't you.

You're saying the rules say it's ok to place the ball on the ground when a ball up is called, except if the umpire asks you to give the ball straight back to them, in which case it's a free kick.

And you're happy with that?

Yes I am happy with a free kick paid against a player that doesn’t follow the direction of the umpires

I wonder what his celebration will be if he wins tonight ?

$20 on him copying Djokovic and eating the playing surface grass after a miraculous victory!!

I wonder if he would be like my junior footy coach who would buy everyone a can of soft drink from the canteen after a good win. Keep spirits high for the boys.

If your players could kick straight you would be in front.

Looks like Port are using the same goal kicking coach that us and Freo are using.
Our inside forward 50 work has been garbage for a decade it's like we try to make goals look like the hardest things in the world to achieve.

Isnt Nicki rated something like 260 in the comp for his disposal lately?
According to 'Champion Data' apparently.

Despite being Collingwood's best player by a mile this year, and getting the most contested possessions in the competition.

Not sure you want to be bringing Daicos into the discussion when referencing Walsh's kicking efficiency.
