I have watched both of Hawthorn's previous games but I'm not commenting on the umpiring from those games because it's irrelevant in a thread like this. I don't believe there is some conspiracy where umpires favour Hawthorn.
You're being fairly evasive and pissy so I think it's a good idea we change topics. :)

I thought Hewett played very well.

Where was I pissy? It's a thread about this one game. It's not a general umpiring thread. And umpiring in previous weeks shouldn't really matter when evaluating the umpiring in this specific game.

I'd like to point out something to everyone .....

Last year's final against Brisbane, we were held scoreless in the first quarter, kicked two in the second quarter & three in the third quarter (five goals overall in three quarters).

In the first game against Richmond, we kicked two goals in the second, 1 goal in the third & 1 goal in the last (4 goals overall in three quarters).

Last night against the Hawks, we kicked two goals in the first quarter, two goals in the third quarter and zero goals in the last quarter (4 goals in three quarters).

Adding those all together, in 1.5 matches, we have managed the stellar total of 13 goals which is not enough to beat the Little League at half-time.

Seriously, we are kidding ourselves if we think this sort of utter crap is going to get us into finals contentions, we are so far off the pace it is embarrassing.

We've been in two scrappy low scoring affairs so far. Have generated 19 scoring opportunities in the 2nd halves of the games combined for 4.15. We were #3 in the competition for goals per shot on goal last year since you would expect conversion to improve.

Good grief ...........

Any Blues fan who wants to come up with mealy-mouthed excuses for the utter tripe our mob are continually serving up are just living in denial.

It's time to face the reality & gravity of the situation, not keep living in La-La Land.

Mate where was the excuse? I'm saying our conversion in front of goal has been poor.

The mids (other than Cripps) have a bit to answer for. When 201cm Tom De Koning is quicker at getting the ground balls and even beating most of our mids to it there's an issue. Walsh can't even bend over properly anymore (back issue) and yet we keep playing him in there. Doc is sadly cooked. etc etc

But Vossy is nothing if not stubborn.

I don't know how they can do it, but they need to replace Young, Haynes and Gov with some competent talls down back 2026-2028.

Kemp
Motlop
Evans
Fantasia
(Get some real forwards)

Pittonet so that they can find a mobile ruck who can go forward, while also chopping TDK out at stoppages (none of this Cripps rucking).

That'll do.

Three names that cannot be at Carlton next year if they are serious

Sam Docherty - Delist
Jack Silvagni - Delist
Adam Saad - Trade
I would have to disagree with JSOS, besides being inaccurate at goal (no Robinson Crusoe either) he's easily the highest IQ player we have and one of the few that actually holds down a semblance of structure whether forward or back, and can play pretty much anywhere.

I think in a much better balanced list he'd be a very handy third option.

How many goals did you get from free kicks again? Which free kicks have you guys so bent out of shape exactly. You got a centre square free kick which is a charity, you also got a dubious free kick resulting in a goal when everybody stopped and the umpire called play on when it was the only time they paid that all game. Which free kicks we got did you think weren't there, don't say CJ or Dylan Moore both clear free kicks.

The first free of the game was poor at best and then to take that goal off Carlton was just a joke.

Why was it poor? It was a push that prevented the Hawthorn player from making a play at the ball, which would've easily marked or spoilt. It wasn't a 50/50 contest

The Cripps v Newcomb push and shove happens at basically every contest no idea why the umpire gave Newcomb a free.

It was a free because Cripps panicked and held the superior midfielder back from the contest.

Blues play a gruelling style that weakens ends of games, and ends of seasons. I keep thinking back to Richmond who had a similar gruelling style, and somehow they ran out games, and were top tier for 4 years straight. Both teams with a thin bottom 3rd playlist, I suppose one of the big differences is the master-stroke coaching of Dimma that got contributions from everyone, vs the less than that of Voss.

The game is changing under our noses in recent years, speed, movement, attack is built on defense, I reckon Carlton hasn't cottoned on.
