Plenty of good reading on the main board AA thread.

Blicavs i think this is his best ever year, and should be up there for the Brownlow, no player is like him in the AFL
Lol if blicavs has more then 5 brownlow votes i would be stunned. I cant think of a single game where he would be in the top 2 players on the ground.

cameron, stewart and cam guthrie will be our best brownlow vote getters. Danger and selwood will probably have more votes then blicavs.

well i suppose if you dislike a post then it must not be true. ;)

ive never put a bet up on big footy ever. But if blicavs gets in our top two brownlow vote getters i will leave the geelong board for 12 months.
Cameron and Guthrie yes. Stewart could be closer than you think.

Change the terms to your other statement - he will not get more than 5 Brownlow votes. That one could be very interesting.

Talk about under rating a players season - Blicavs just finished top 10 in the AFLCA award; you don't do that by luck, so no doubt some of his games will have been noticed by the umpires

The coaches had Blicavs in their top two on the ground in the following rounds:
Round 8 vs GWS, 10 votes
Round 14 vs WCE, 9 votes
Round 18 vs Carlton, 9 votes
Round 22 vs GC, 8 votes (Jezza 9 votes)
Round 23 vs WCE, 9 votes

From those 5 games, the coaches had him as BOG in 4 of them and 2nd best on in the 5th - likely a good chance that the umpires would have him high up in the votes in a couple of those games also

By comparison, Stewart was only in the top 2 coaches votes twice - Round 7 vs Freo & Round 11 vs Crows, the two games he racked up 40 disposals, and collected the 10 votes each time

Would have been best on v tigers for sure but Richmond coaches cracked the sads because of Prestia.

was miles better than anyone else

Blicavs or Stewart?

Each got votes that match, Blicavs - 5, & Stewart - 4, but from opposing coaches

Maybe it was Scott who didn't give Stewart any votes that night... Only players they both gave votes to was Baker (5 & 4), and Stengle (3 & 3)

Im risk averse. I would be stunned if he if got more then 5 votes. I would be absolutely gobsmacked if he finished in our top 2 brownlow medal vote getters.

stewart, cameron and c.guthrie will easily outrank him. Possibly a couple of others too.

Lol the coaches. 50 percent of those coaches votes are from chris scott. He is just a tad blicavs biased. Just a tad.

Are you confident blicavs will get in our top teo vote getters? How about getting more then 5 brownlow votes?

You are aware that when a player tops the coaches votes in a game it's because both coaches rated their game - Blicavs isn't polling 9 or 10 votes just cause Scott may like him...

Why wouldn't Blicavs receive more than 5 Brownlow votes - he was comfortably in the top few players on the ground across multiple matches, but we don't if the umpires will see things the same way as the coaches, media and fans

At the completion of the season Guthrie Snr & Cameron would be the only players I'd be happy to predict to finish with more Brownlow votes Blicavs, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Blicavs turn the tables on them & win his third b&f

Joel Selwood has been announced as one of the four finalists for the 2022 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award alongside Harry Cunningham (Sydney Swans), Dylan Moore (Hawthorn) and Adam Saad (Carlton).

In its eleventh year, the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award recognises the values of the late former Melbourne Hall of Fame champion and Club President, Jim Stynes. These values are a commitment to the community, to helping others, to making a difference and to representing the game of football both on and off the field. 2022 saw many players impact their community, however, these finalists went above and beyond.

Joel Selwood (Geelong Cats)

This past year, Cat's Captain Joel Selwood reached his 350-game milestone and broke league records for most games and wins as a captain, yet he has also reached an important and impressive milestone off field – passing 1000 hours with Cat's Community commitments, and that's just the recorded hours.

From the beginning of his career, Joel made sure that he was showing up for the community. For 16 years he has visited schools, clubs, Auskick clinics, community camps, country days, and community appearances. This year alone, Joel has continued to embrace his role as a lead ambassador for the Geelong's GMHBA Healthy Heroes program, helping to empower primary school-aged children in the region to lead healthy, active lifestyles, with an additional focus on mental health and wellbeing. He is also a champion for inclusion and played a key role in launching the AFL Barwon region Access All-Abilities Auskick Clinics last November. He has been a NAB Auskick Ambassador for most of his career. Joel is a key figure in annual community camps and is also an ambassador for the Cotton On Foundation.

Watching Joel Selwood engage with the community is to witness heartfelt and authentic interactions that act as a reminder of the power of football, and of athletes, beyond the boundary.

THE AFL has moved the Brownlow Medal away from the traditional Monday night before the Grand Final to avoid a clash with the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The AFL's biggest awards night of the year was scheduled to be held at Crown Casino in Melbourne on September 19.

But AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has confirmed the league will stage the Brownlow on September 18 instead.
