Sounds pretty good. If we picked him it would also sate the obsession with having a 6’2 midfielder (which I’ve never understood).
Because we regularly get beaten up at the contest by bigger bodies. Also it wouldn't, because it's a start, not the finished product.

And I'm not saying small midfielders can't be guns. I'm saying that most of the small gun mids are afforded that due to the fact they have bigger bodies around them that actually have the size to protect them.

That’s a sensible answer. Is height the decisive factor or can a broad shouldered 6ft’r do the job?

Florenca just looks a better footballer than Hibberd. Has more tools IMO
We also didn't let Hibberd use his 1 wood at state level
Although that is the worry if we do draft a mature ager eth-dog
It's my worry, period.

A solid 6 might match a slimmer 6'2 for mass, but the problem in this league is most midfields boast at least one solid 6'2.
Basically this. Our biggest body in the middle is currently 6'0 and 84 kg in Caldwell.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Florenca? Showed in his AFL game he’s good enough. If we were looking for a Snelling ready to go type, he is the one.

I’d love us to take Charmicheal but knowing our list manager he will take Kantilla. Which I actually have no dramas with given our small forward stocks. I also would love Derkson as our list needs as much talent as it can get.
Gaff was impressed in his outing for WCE. Said Florenca got 9 possessions when the heat was on in the 1st qtr against a strong Brisbane midfield. Said that effort will be over 4 quarters once he gets the chance to train in a professional environment. A good South Coogee boy as well.

Yeah I’m the same. wouldn’t be upset with that pick at all
Who gets dropped to fit him in. Not saying our defence is great, but Hind, Heppell and Redman aren't going to be dropped. Most want McGrath to play HBF. Laverde, Reid and Ridley are all going to play. And Kelly plays a different role. People will say they want Heppell to be dropped but the club wont do that. Seems there is a more immediate need in the midfield or small/pressure forward.

He’s 19 so no one needs to be dropped any time soon for him. same goes for someone like Culley if he slipped to us. I wouldn’t expect to see his name at ruck rover within a fortnight. If we are picking at 19 year old it’s more so a look towards the future

I think Carmichael is more outside than people assume. I watched the state game and he played a lot of wing and was quite uncontested. His kicking was great though and he hit the scoreboard.

This is reflected in his SANFL stats, his clearance numbers are good but not great. He has fewer clearances than 19 year old Oliver Davis.

He will fit in as a good, tough wing and would likely add to our best 22.

What you say is right but we also have to remember that contested footy is not just the domain of the midfielders. Our contested rate goes down due to the fact we have no small forwards winning the footy inside 50 and also because the younger blokes are developing. Throw in the fact that Draper hardly wins any contested right now as well.

Just occurred to me that we may well go Kantilla as a preemptive strike against not being able to access Munkara.

Wouldn’t be too mad TBH.

Twomey has Culley going to WC and Kallan Dawson to North.

The Bombers did work on running half-back Massimo D'Ambrosio and half-forward Hugo Hall-Kahan this week and have also been interested in 22-year-old tall midfielder Josh Carmichael from the SANFL. Oskar Faulkhead’s form in the VFL has also seen him linked to Essendon. D'Ambrosio suffered a shoulder injury last week playing in Richmond's VFL side but will only miss four weeks.

Apparently we have a second pick, where did that come from?

Cox.. the club hasn’t said he’s on the LTI list tho?
