They are happy with Easter Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Can't say I oppose the tradition of not having games on Easter Friday but the Roos would be pretty annoyed. However, I don't see why they should be. I don't think anyone could be surprised.

I don't see why the AFL doesn't get into this. Think of the entertainment potential. Before the game they could bring out christians and tie them to crucifixes. Or have them run around the MCG chased by a couple of Lions. Surely that would pull a crowd.

I agree with no football on good friday. I am personally not a Christian but most Australians are and i think that putting football on a very religious day like that would cause more harm than good.

Who gives a stuff about Good Friday? Australia would have to have one of the lowest %s of church attendance in the Western world.

Good Friday footy doesn't seem to bother anyone in Sydney with the NRL fixture on Good Friday one of the biggest of the year.

I always find it amusing when this topic comes up and people make comments damning christians and catholics. If it weren't for christianity there would be no holiday good friday!!

Bring on Good Friday Footy,

It would at least give me something to look forward to, on what is the most boring day of the year.

I always thought it was channel 7 who said no, because they were always broadcasting the childrens hospital telethon, but 9 didn't try when they had the rights.
i still think this has a bit to do with it though.

There is no reason for not playing.

And for those who say it's a day of contemplation and reflection, you can do that on your own time.
