On Collingwood's Twitter it mentions:

  • Ball was sick today and hence missed training but "his body is comming along"
  • Beams trained strongly this morning
  • Krakour, Mooney, Jolly, Martin, Oxley all putting pressure on for selection.
  • No mention of Elliot and Sinclair's injuries / if they trained.

Buckley said to the media today that Elliott will need another week, Beams should play and Ball is still in the mix. Hopefully Krakouer gets given a chance this week and Didak starts.

This then means we have a full list to choose from bar Elliot and potentially Sinclair? (also excluding season ending injuries) .

I think Dids will get another run. Sinclair and Elliot to get one more week of recovery. Unless there are unknown injury concerns it looks like Ball our for Beams. I think it is very important to keep our momentum going and play our strongest possible side.

The ins I'd like to see tonight;

In: Beams, Sinclair (if right to go), Jolly
Out: squad of 25, no outs yet

Final 22 on Sunday;

In: Beams, Sinclair
Out: Kennedy, Didak

I think sinclairs position for this match is entirely dependent on how north line up. While i see thomas and harvey as the legitimate small forwards, wright will most likley play in some sort of defensive capacity on shaw to nullify his run. if this is how they likley looked to line up on team sheet, then sinclair should be brought in.

Else, if they decide to go large, i think goldsack / maxwell could take the extra small, the other taking black, while shaw and williams combat harvey / thomas.

Macaffer should go to Harvey.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if Didak got one more game and Sinclair plays VFL and returns the next week, most likely vs Port who do have small forwards for him to play on.

Jack Frost was new?
Why do I keep thinking he played last year....?
Must be getting him mixed up with Keeffe.
Or just the year's been too long.

This is Jack Frost's first year with us, yes it's been a long year.

I think if fit Sinclair will come in, otherwise it might be bye bye to his finals campaign
I think we have 27-28 players who would be a chance to play through our finals campaign.
If we go deep into September, then we would require such depth.
There is no way we will have the same 22 playing every game over the next 4-5 weeks (if we go that far), we will use various players subject to injury, form, opposition match ups & 'good ol gut feel'.
One week at a time.....horses for courses........no such thing as best 22.....(the modern coaches motto).
Sinclair is part of the 'finals squad' no doubt.
Shane Kerrison, Craig Starcevich & Tyson Goldsack were not in the 'best' 22 approaching the finals, yet all have premiership medallions sitting on their mantelpiece.

Agreed he is part of it. I meant it is a good thing spots a tight again and he may not get back in dependant on injuries. like Seedsman only got back in cause of injury now I would be surprised if he got dropped

Interesting questions.

If you were Kyle Martin....

Would you prefer to be recalled at AFL level in a dead rubber with guys like Beams and Ball on the sidelines guaranteed to take your spot the next week?

Or would you prefer to play in the VFL final considering you have played at that level all year and have a vested interest in seeing that team win a final.

I think if I were Martin I'd prefer to dominate the VFL final. Although if you dominated at AFL level then you are a chance of playing an AFL final.

I just think Martin would struggle to make the leap to AFL level for 1 week and just dominate. Strikes me as the type that might need a consistent month to settle in.

No doubt he would prefer seniors. Not even close in my opinion.
