I can't believe they kept Duryea in.

What are the odds he gets caught with the ball 2 times in our 50 and kicks 4 skyballs under pressure from defence?

I want odds please.
I actually dont mind him. He really goes at it. But he's not ready for a game like this.

I seem to remember that King was suspended back then, and didn't play. What about Mumford last year, the first game v Swans. Although I would not really call Mummy a discard. Did Scott Thomson play any senior games with Geelong?

Correct about King, what about 2010?
Mummy was not a discard
Scotty never played a senior game with us

Tv breaks clear towards to 50, Cyril is about to get him and.....TWANG!!!

:)

Your right to some extent. His defensive side to his game is pretty good for someone who has played only the 10 games. He spoils well, hard at the ball, is good in 1:1 contests and can keep his opponent quite. But his kicking under pressure needs to be fixed because he can turn it over at times either under presssure or no pressure at all. But overall I reckon he is a decent back pocket type player for us. :)

I remember him at draft time.

Disagree, Blic is a proven performer all year, we know he is robust, fit, resilient and fast. Vardy would be an unreliable option as a ruck, albeit #2, needs a LOT MORE game time to prove his hips don't require him to be rested alternate weeks. I'd be more than comfortable going into a finals series with a FIT Simpson, assisted by an even fitter Blicavs.
I agree. People were a bit undecided on Blicavs entering the season, but he's performed adequately enough to hold his place, and gives us a presence that most other ruckman lack...the ability to run, tackle and chase.

Vardy's played little football in 2 years, and the few games he's played in the AFL have been predominantly as a forward. It's to big a risk to play Vardy in the ruck at this stage of the season, particularly now that Simpson is injury free and starting to live up to his promise.

The only way Vardy will be back into the side is either if they decide to play an extra tall forward or either Pods or Hawkins are injured or rested. Our ruck set-up is looking the best it has in 2 years with big Simpson taking the centre bounce.

What if the hawks are up by five points, mere seconds left on the clock, long bomb by, I dunno, Bartell sailing through at chest height where Lake is sprinting in to comfortably spoil it through but OH NO SELWOOD HAS DELIVERED A VICIOUS TRIP THAT NOT ONLY CAUSES LAKE TO FALL OVER BUT TO ALSO BADLY BREAK HIS LEG.

Geelong wins.
Hawks lose their only remaining KPD sized player.
Selwood delivered the blow through illegal means
Bigfooty error message lasts 3 weeks.[/quote]

Funniest thing all week...

Great call..

Not necessarily relevant to this game, but Geelong have reinstated Varcoe to the senior list and sent Walker back to the rookie list - unless we have another LTI would seem its going to be hard for Walker to be elevated again this year, either that or they send one of Burbs/Blitz back to the rookie list.

Interesting that they sent Walker back down and not Burbs... although Im not sure if you can shuffle elevated players like for like or whether the specifically nominated must be returned to Rookie when his listed player comes back....

Don't know Daz but don't think we have used our mid season up grade either have we?

Hang onto your hats epic battle coming up!

Unchanged side and some great returns in the vfl, plenty to like.

Really looking forward to watching this blockbuster unfold, classic match ups all over the ground.

Not sure what to think re Murdoch/Smedts as a late inclusion or even Vardy as a late call up.

What i do know is i am excited & strangely nervous at the same time!!!!

Time to shine Cats!!

Conngrats to Smithy on his milestone, champion of the club & workhorse of the highest quality.

I really hope the boys are up and about from the 1st bounce for this one.

The Hawks and their supporters are exuding a quiet confidence about this game, and although their form hasn't been any more convincing than ours, I think they're too good to sacrifice a lead should they skip away.

And don't worry, the Hawks will be pumped for this one. No matter what they say, they want this one bad.

Ah yes the game where we were beaten by the umpire and Snowy Baker was given a free ticket to assault Steve J, whilst the ump focussed on giving 50 metre penalties to Saints, the most notorious game I have ever seen. I remember Milburn being given a 50 for denying he had pushed Schneider, "I didn't do it" "Right that's 50", in fact he didn't, it was Scarlett but Schneider pushed first.
